Badajoz announces 30,000 euros in grants for open-air shopping centers
Por FactBox Admin

The Badajoz City Council has announced grants with a maximum total allocation of 30,000 euros destined for open-air shopping centers within the municipal district to finance activities to revitalize small businesses during 2026. The call was approved by decree of the mayor, Ignacio Gragera Barrera, on October 6, 2026, and its summary is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz No. 200, dated October 19, 2026, under reference 4098/2026.
The summary is disseminated under articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, and refers to the full text deposited in the National Grants Database, where the call appears with the identifier 935065. The applicable regulatory bases are the General Grants Ordinance of the Badajoz City Council, published in the BOP of Badajoz on February 2, 2009.
The purpose of the aid is the financing of specific actions, programs, or projects to support the development of the commercial sector proposed by the applicant and accepted by the City Council, with the stated aim of favoring the economic growth of Badajoz and revitalizing small businesses.
Requirements: majority of retail partners
Open-air shopping centers within the municipal district of Badajoz may apply provided they prove, among other requirements, the following:
- To have legal personality and capacity to act, and to be duly constituted prior to the start of the application submission period.
- To manage and carry out the subsidized projects directly.
- That at least 40% of the partners are entrepreneurs whose activity falls within groups 64 (retail sale of food products, beverages, and tobacco in permanent establishments) and 65 (retail sale of non-food industrial products in permanent establishments) of the Economic Activities Tax.
- Not to incur any of the prohibitions set forth in article 13.2 of the General Grants Law.
- To have submitted the application within the deadline, along with justification of other aid previously received for similar purposes.
Fifteen business days and electronic submission
The deadline for submitting applications is fifteen business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz. Applications shall conform to the model appearing as Annex I of the call, which will be provided by the Trade Delegation.
Applications may be submitted electronically via the electronic office of the Badajoz City Council (sede.aytobadajoz.es), as well as through the other electronic registries of the entities referred to in Article 2.1 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, in accordance with Articles 14 and 16.4 of said regulation. Applications must be accompanied, among other documents, by the project to be executed and its budget.
Activities of the current financial year and justification before year-end
Subsidized projects must be carried out between January 1 and December 31, 2026, such that the call covers activities of the current financial year and not only those subsequent to its publication. The maximum deadline for submitting the justification will be December 31, 2026 and, as specified in the summary, it may not be extended under any circumstances.
The call allows for advance payments of the subsidy of up to 50% of the granted amount, once the award resolution has been accepted, allowing beneficiary entities to cover expenses before the final settlement.
For associations of merchants and entrepreneurs in the city, the call opens a limited financing route—with a global ceiling of 30,000 euros—and a very compressed schedule: fifteen business days to apply and less than three months to execute and justify, as the closing of the financial year simultaneously marks the end of activities and the non-extendable deadline for supporting documentation.
