Road haulage, 2027 quotas confirmed: 30 euro fixed fee and deadline on December 31st
Por FactBox Admin

Road transport companies registered in the national register must pay the registration fee for the year 2027 by December 31, 2026, set at 30 euros as a fixed fee for all registered companies. This is established by Resolution no. 8 of October 15, 2026, of the Central Committee for the National Register of Road Hauliers, published in the Official Gazette of the Italian Republic, General Series no. 249 of October 26, 2026, under reference 26A05583.
The regulatory framework and the deciding body
The amount of the fees is determined by the Central Committee based on Art. 63 of Law no. 298 of June 6, 1974, and Art. 9, paragraph 2, letter d), of Legislative Decree no. 284 of November 21, 2005, which assign the body the task of annually defining the contribution due from companies. The revenue is used to cover the operating costs of the Committee itself and the full fulfillment of the powers and functions also assigned by the 2014 and 2015 stability laws.
The measure is signed by the president Enrico Finocchi, to whom the Department for Transport and Navigation of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport conferred the leadership of the Committee by decree of the President of the Council of Ministers on July 23, 2026, registered by the Court of Auditors on September 7, 2026. The composition of the body was reconstituted for a three-year term by ministerial decree on January 28, 2026.
A fleet of over 918 thousand vehicles
The resolution justifies the confirmation of the rates by referring to the size of the sector: vehicles intended for the transport of goods on behalf of third parties, including tractors and trailers, in circulation on the national territory are 918,615, of which 731,930 have a total gross weight exceeding 6 tonnes.
The Committee decided to confirm for 2027 both the amount of the fees as established for 2026 and the possibility of paying the contribution through the PagoPA platform. Additional fees remain graduated based on the size of the vehicle fleet:
- from 2 to 5 vehicles: 5.00 euros
- from 6 to 10 vehicles: 10.00 euros
- from 11 to 50 vehicles: 26.00 euros
- from 51 to 100 vehicles: 103.00 euros
- from 101 to 200 vehicles: 258.00 euros
- over 200 vehicles: 516.00 euros
To these is added a further fee for each vehicle with a total mass exceeding 6,000 kilograms owned by the company: 5.00 euros for vehicles from 6,001 to 11,500 kilograms (and for tractors with a towable weight in the same range), 8.00 euros from 11,501 to 26,000 kilograms, and 10.00 euros over 26,000 kilograms.
How to pay and what to keep
Payment is made via PagoPA, in the “Payment of Fees” section of the portal www.alboautotrasporto.it, using two alternative methods:
- online payment, with the choice of payment service provider and real-time debiting;
- deferred payment, following the creation of the debt position and printing of the payment notice, which can also be used via physical channels.
It is possible to settle only one debt position at a time, and the section also allows for the regularization of any unpaid previous annual fees. Companies registered in the register of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano pay through the same platform, which however directs the payment exclusively in favor of the autonomous province.
Art. 3 of the resolution requires companies to keep proof of payment, also to enable checks by the Central Committee and the competent peripheral structures.
The impact for companies
For road hauliers, this is an annual requirement with costs unchanged compared to the current year, but with an earlier deadline compared to the reference year: payment must be completed by the end of 2026, with increasing costs for larger fleets and heavy vehicles. The confirmation of the 2026 measures avoids increases for a sector that, according to the data cited in the same resolution, has over 918 thousand registered vehicles.
