Aragón fija diez domingos y festivos de apertura comercial para 2027

The Department of Economy, Competitiveness and Employment of the Government of Aragon has determined the ten Sundays and holidays on which commercial establishments may remain open to the public during 2027. The decision is formalized in Order ECE/1405/2026, of September 16, published in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 191, of October 1, 2026, within section III of Other Provisions and Agreements. The regulation also allows large-scale stores and shopping centers to propose alternative dates adapted to each municipality.

A ten-day calendar for all of Aragon

The order sets the number of authorized opening Sundays and holidays at ten, as established in article 2.1 of Law 7/2005, of October 4, on commercial hours and opening on holidays, modified by article 26 of Law 2/2016, of January 28, on Fiscal and Administrative Measures of the Autonomous Community of Aragon. The approved dates are:

  • January 3
  • January 10
  • June 27
  • November 1
  • November 28
  • December 5
  • December 6
  • December 12
  • December 19
  • December 26

These dates will apply to businesses that do not request other alternatives. The limitation is restricted to establishments with more than 300 square meters of useful exhibition and public sales area, as those with a smaller area are excluded according to article 3.1.b) of Law 7/2005, of October 4.

Alternative dates by municipality

Stores of more than 300 square meters and shopping centers located in Aragonese municipalities may submit alternative dates to replace the approved ones, provided they do not exceed ten days per year per establishment and municipality and do not contravene the criteria of article 2.2 of Law 7/2005, of October 4. The order justifies this flexibility based on the need to adapt the offer to the commercial appeal and the differentiated needs of customers in each municipal district.

The request must be submitted via a responsible declaration, differentiated by municipality, within ten business days following the publication of the order. The procedure is carried out through the specific form enabled on the electronic headquarters of the Government of Aragon or by searching for procedure number 11927, titled “Holiday opening dates 2027”.

Requirements and administrative control

Changes shall be communicated to the General Directorate of SMEs, Freelancers, Internal Trade and Consumption. The order details the conditions that the proposals must meet:

  • Opening hours per municipality may not exceed ten days per year.
  • Establishments integrated into a shopping center shall submit a single application per center, and the dates set by the center shall apply to all its operators.
  • The new dates may not contravene the criteria of article 2.2 of Law 7/2005, of October 4.
  • Changes made to the calendar will be published on the Government of Aragon website.
  • Establishments shall be obliged to publicly and visibly announce their holiday calendar for 2027.

The regional competence regarding commercial hours derives from article 71.25.ª of the Statute of Autonomy of Aragon and is exercised while respecting the single market. The regulation is issued after consulting the Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Services of Aragon, the confederations and associations of trade entrepreneurs, consumer associations, and the most representative trade union organizations.

Entry into force

Order ECE/1405/2026 shall take effect from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of Aragon, that is, from October 2, 2026. The text was signed in Zaragoza on September 16, 2026, by the Councilor for Economy, Competitiveness and Employment, Eva Valle Maestro.

The calendar conditions the planning of staff, shifts, and campaigns for Aragonese businesses throughout 2027, and transfers the final decision on which days to open to the municipalities and shopping centers. For consumers, the publication of alternative dates on the regional website and the obligation to display the calendar in each establishment are the guarantees that the announced opening corresponds to the authorized one.
