Por FactBox Admin

The Almazán Zonal Electoral Board was constituted on October 9, 2026, in the session held for that purpose, according to the edict published by the Official Gazette of the Province of Soria in its extraordinary issue on Monday, October 12, 2026. The constitution occurs after the Official State Gazette published Royal Decree 806/2026, of October 5, on October 6, regarding the dissolution of the Congress of Deputies and the Senate and the calling of general elections for November 29, 2026. The regional body is composed of a president, two members, and a secretary, and serves as the reference for voters and candidates of the region throughout the electoral process.
Composition of the Zonal Electoral Board
The edict, signed by the body’s secretary, details the composition resulting from the constitutive session:
- President: Mr. Iván Tobar Alzuguren.
- Members: Ms. Ana Isabel Benito de los Mozos and Mr. Eduardo Vaquero Llevot.
- Secretary: Ms. Vicenta Irene Sánchez Jerónimo.
The constitution is agreed upon by virtue of Article 14.1 of the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (LOREG), and the edict itself is issued in compliance with the provisions of Article 14.3 of the same regulation. The document was signed in Almazán on October 9, 2026, with the signature of the secretary, Vicenta Irene Sánchez Jerónimo.
Regulatory Framework and Electoral Calendar
The calling of the general elections was established by Royal Decree 806/2026, of October 5, published in the Official State Gazette on October 6, 2026, which dissolves both chambers and sets the date for the polls for Sunday, November 29, 2026. Following that call, the calendar provided for in the LOREG is activated, which requires the constitution of the zonal electoral boards within the regulatory deadlines and assigns these bodies control and resolution functions within the corresponding territorial scope.
The Almazán Zonal Electoral Board acts as the reference instance for the municipalities in its jurisdiction on matters such as the proclamation of candidacies, inquiries from voters and candidates, and the resolution of claims and incidents of the process.
Constitution of the Remaining Electoral Bodies
The constitution of the Almazán board is part of the simultaneous implementation of all electoral bodies in the province, published in the same extraordinary issue of the provincial gazette:
- The Provincial Electoral Board of Soria, constituted in the session of October 9, 2026, presided over by Ms. María Luisa García García, with Mr. Rafael María Carnicero Giménez de Azcárate and Ms. Cristina Sualdea Barrio as judicial members and Ms. Estíbaliz Núñez Puerta as secretary.
- The Zonal Electoral Board of El Burgo de Osma, also constituted on October 9, 2026, with Ms. Ana Isabel Benito de los Mozos as president, Mr. Iván Tobar Alzuguren and Mr. Eduardo Vaquero Llevot as members and Ms. Ana Castel Frías as secretary.
- The Electoral Census Office of the Provincial Delegation of Soria, which publishes the list of municipalities with the number and boundaries of the electoral sections, their venues, and the corresponding polling stations.
In the case of the census, the bulletin reminds that, pursuant to Article 24 of the LOREG, electors have six days from the publication of the list to file claims against the delimitation carried out before the Provincial Electoral Board, which shall issue a final resolution within five days.
Relevance for the region’s voters
With the constitution of the Zonal Electoral Board of Almazán, the electoral machinery in the region formally begins ahead of November 29. Voters and the political organizations participating in the elections now have an identified body to which they can direct inquiries, claims, and appeals during the process, while the electoral census opens its period for allegations regarding sections, venues, and polling stations.
