Alcoy announces 50,000 euros in grants for local commerce and generational renewal

The Alcoy City Council has approved the guidelines and the call for the Municipal Program of Grants for Entrepreneurship and Generational Renewal of Local Commerce, 2026 fiscal year, with a maximum non-repayable credit of 50,000 euros. The agreement was adopted by the Local Government Board on July 30, 2026, and its summary is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante number 170, dated September 8, 2026, with identifier BDNS 927850.
The call, under a competitive bidding process, seeks to encourage the opening of new commercial establishments, facilitate the continuity of existing businesses through their transfer, and revitalize the urban proximity commercial fabric. It is financed through budget allocation 09137.43100.48900 of the 2026 municipal budget, with credit retention RC 920260007096.
Two lines of aid
The credit is divided into two lines of 25,000 euros each, with the possibility of redistributing the surplus between both if one is not exhausted:
- Line A. Commercial Entrepreneurship: 25,000 euros.
- Line B. Generational Renewal and Transfer of Businesses: 25,000 euros.
The grant covers up to 80% of the justified eligible expenditure, with a maximum of 2,000 euros per establishment. Those who have a permanent commercial sign written in Valencian may add an additional 300 euros, such that the total maximum amount reaches 2,300 euros per establishment, without in any case exceeding the cost of the action.
Who can apply
Beneficiaries may be natural persons, legal entities, and legally constituted communities of assets that develop or start a retail trade activity in an establishment within the municipality of Alcoy. They must meet, among others, the following requirements:
- Be considered a micro-enterprise according to the European Commission’s Recommendation 2003/361/EC.
- Develop or start retail trade in a permanent premises, open to the public, on the ground floor and with direct access from the public road.
- Be registered in the Census of Entrepreneurs, Professionals, and Withholding Agents of the State Tax Administration Agency.
- Be up to date with the AEAT, the General Treasury of the Social Security, and the Alcoy City Council.
Industrial activities, service provision, hospitality and catering, and generally those not considered retail trade are excluded.
Deadline and submission
Applications shall preferably be submitted by electronic means through the Electronic Office of the Alcoy City Council, using the standardized form in Annex I. The deadline is 20 business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the BOP of Alicante, and each applicant may only submit one application and apply for a single line.
The call is governed by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, Royal Decree 887/2006, Law 39/2015, and Law 40/2015, in addition to the General Subsidy Ordinance of the Alcoy City Council. The agreement is signed by the mayor, Antonio Francés Pérez, dated September 4, 2026.
