Alcázar de San Juan y Malagón delegan matrimonios civiles en dos concejalas

The city councils of Alcázar de San Juan and Malagón have delegated to two of their councilwomen the celebration of respective civil marriages that will take place on October 23 and 24, 2026. The first decision is formalized through a mayoral decree and the second through a mayoral resolution, both of which are published for general knowledge in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ciudad Real number 198, dated October 14, 2026. Both delegations are based on article 43 of the Regulations on the Organization, Operation, and Legal Regime of Local Entities.

The publication of these agreements responds to a legal requirement: article 44 of Royal Decree 2568/1986, of November 28, which approves the Regulations on the Organization, Operation, and Legal Regime of Local Entities (ROF), mandates the public disclosure of the delegation of mayoral functions. In both cases, these are specific and temporary delegations, limited to a single union and a specific date, rather than a generic delegation of matrimonial functions.

The announcements appear in the Local Administration section, City Councils subsection, of the provincial gazette, and bear the signature of the Head of Section of the B.O.P., Juan Luis Cuadros Campo, dated October 13, 2026.

The announcement is likewise published “for general knowledge in compliance with the provisions of Article 44 of the ROF.”

What the delegation implies

The delegation of the matrimonial function does not alter the nature of the act: the civil marriage continues to be celebrated within the framework of the Civil Code and with the same legal effects, but the authority officiating it becomes the person expressly designated by the mayor’s office. As these are singular delegations, linked to a specific date, the competence returns to the holder of the mayor’s office once the wedding has been celebrated.

For the residents, the practical effect is knowing in advance who will preside over the ceremony and on which day, information that the contracting parties and their guests need to organize the event. Publication in the provincial bulletin also ensures that any interested party can verify the identity of the delegated authority and the regulatory basis of the decision.

Both announcements share the same formal structure and the same legal basis, which confirms that this is an ordinary municipal organizational procedure, common in the city councils of the province when the mayor’s office agenda requires it.
