Grants to boost Balearic industrial competitiveness 2026

The Department of Enterprise, Freelancers and Energy has approved a new call for grants aimed at fostering and boosting the competitiveness of productive business sectors, addressed to the Balearic Industrial Development Centers for the year 2026. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) no. 103, of August 18, 2026, through Resolution 8140 of the counselor Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro García, signed in Palma on August 5, 2026.

The call, endowed with 120,000 euros, is part of the Strategic Subsidy Plan of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands 2024-2026 (objective I.2.15) and is governed by the regulatory bases of Order 9/2024 of the counselor of Enterprise, Employment and Energy (BOIB no. 40, of March 23). The objective is to accelerate the transformation of priority productive environments towards activities and business models with higher added value, within the framework of the Industrial Competitiveness and Productivity Improvement Program 2025-2026.

Beneficiaries and requirements

Non-profit legal entities considered Balearic Industrial Development Centers, physically established and with a tax domicile in the Balearic Islands, may apply for the grants. These are research organizations that possess their own resources to generate technological knowledge and facilitate its exploitation.

• They must be up to date with their obligations to the Social Security and tax obligations to the State and the autonomous community.
• At least 20% of their associates or represented parties must be companies with an IAE (Economic Activities Tax) between headings 2 and 5.
• Public companies, public law entities, innovative business groupings, and temporary joint ventures (UTE) are excluded.

Actions and amount of grants

Eligible expenses must have been executed and paid between November 1, 2025, and October 31, 2026, and are grouped into three lines:

• Operating expenses of the coordination and management structures: subsidy of 80% of the salary and Social Security expenses of the management and staff.
• Current expenses linked to ordinary operation (headquarters rent, utilities, and communications): subsidy of 50%.
• External collaborations for consultancy and promotion actions: subsidy of 50%.

The maximum eligible amount per beneficiary is 40,000 euros. The grants are subject to the de minimis regime of Regulation (EU) 2023/2831, meaning the accumulated amount cannot exceed 300,000 euros over a three-year period.

Deadlines and processing

The deadline for submitting applications is thirty calendar days, starting at 10:00 a.m. on the tenth calendar day following the day after publication in the BOIB. Applications must be submitted electronically through the specific procedure of the Electronic Office of the Administration of the Autonomous Community.

• Grants are awarded in strict order of entry of the applications into the registry.
• Processing is the responsibility of the General Directorate of Industry and Industrial Estates, and the resolution is the responsibility of the Minister of Enterprise, Freelancers, and Energy.
• The deadline for issuing and notifying the express resolution is two months from the end of the submission period.
• The justification of expenses and the request for payment end on November 5, 2026.

The call represents an opportunity for the industrial development centers of the archipelago to consolidate their structure and collaborative projects, at a time when the Balearic Islands seek to strengthen their position in global value chains. Interested companies and entities have a limited timeframe to submit their applications and access funds aimed at increasing the productivity and innovation of the Balearic productive fabric.
