A Xunta regula os permisos docentes para as eleccións sindicais de decembro

The Department of Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training approved the Order of September 7, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Galicia number 175, on September 15, 2026, which regulates the leave for civil servant personnel of the bodies of Organic Law 2/2016, of May 3, on education in relation to the trade union elections to the personnel boards of teaching civil servants. The vote is scheduled for December 3, 2026, in non-university educational centers under the management of the department.

The regulation, signed by the counselor Román Rodríguez González, determines the system of leave for members of the polling stations, scrutineers and proxies, as well as for voters in general, with the objective of guaranteeing the exercise of the right to vote without prejudice to the provision of the educational service.

Polling station leave

Persons designated as titulars and substitutes of the polling stations will be entitled to leave for the time indispensable to attend the meetings for the constitution of the station. Those who are part of a station during the day of the vote will have paid leave for the full working day on that day, in addition to a reduction of five hours in the working day of the immediately following day.

Provincial coordinating boards

Members of the provincial coordinating boards will have paid leave to exercise their functions throughout the entire electoral process, from September 30, 2026, to December 21, 2026, both inclusive.

Proxies, scrutineers and voters

The proxies and scrutineers designated by the candidacies will have leave during the entire day of the vote. For their part, voters in general will have leave for the time indispensable to exercise their right to vote.

  • Members of the polling stations: full-day leave on the day of the vote and a reduction of five hours the following day.
  • Members of the provincial coordinating boards: paid leave from September 30 to December 21, 2026.
  • Proxies and scrutineers: leave during the entire day of the vote.
  • Voters in general: leave for the time indispensable to vote.

Center administrations may require a certificate of the voting act issued by the specific polling station where the staff member votes when it is located outside their workplace.

Relevance of the regulation

This order guarantees that teaching staff can participate in the elections to the personnel boards without loss of pay, while organizing the coverage of service in educational centers during the electoral process. The publication arrives less than three months before the vote, providing legal certainty to the boards, the candidacies, and all affected civil servants.
