Aínsa opens a call for a piano teachers' talent pool via a merit-based competition

The Aínsa-Sobrarbe City Council has published the guidelines for the call to establish, through a merit-based competition, a job bank of piano teachers for the José María Campo School of Music and Dance. The call, signed by the mayor-president Enrique Pueyo García on September 4, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Huesca number 171, dated Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with reference BOPH-2026-171004.

The objective is to cover possible unforeseen needs for piano teaching staff. In the event of hiring, the link will be a temporary, part-time employment contract, with the job bank remaining valid throughout the 2026 and 2027 academic years, with the possibility of a six-month extension. The academic year runs approximately from October 1 to June 30 of the following year.

Position Requirements and Conditions

To be admitted, applicants must meet the following requirements by the deadline for submitting applications:

• Be Spanish, a citizen of a European Union member state, or a foreign national with a residence permit in Spain.
• Be at least eighteen years of age.
• Not suffer from any illness that prevents the performance of the duties.
• Not be subject to any incapacity or incompatibility, nor have been dismissed through disciplinary proceedings from any Public Administration.
• Hold a Professional Music Degree specializing in Piano or an equivalent Intermediate Degree.

The position is equivalent to Group B, Level 18, and remuneration will be as established in the salary tables of the Collective Agreement for Labor Personnel of the Aínsa-Sobrarbe City Council, applied proportionally to the part-time working percentage. The working hours will be determined annually at the start of each course based on the number of students enrolled in each specialty.

Submission of Applications and Selection Process

Applications shall be addressed to the mayor-president using the model in Annex I of the guidelines, submitted through the City Council registries or via the channels specified in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, within a period of 7 business days starting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the BOP of Huesca. A photocopy of the ID or passport and the required qualifications must accompany the application.

Selection will be carried out by a merit-based competition, evaluated by a tribunal appointed by the Mayor’s Office-Presidency, consisting of a president, three members, and a secretary, along with their respective alternates. The evaluation scale is as follows:

• Work experience (up to 7 points): 0.10 points per month teaching piano in schools, conservatories, or schools within the D.G.A. or municipal network (max. 4.5 points); 0.05 points per month in other entities (max. 2.5 points).
• Training and concerts (up to 3 points): 1 point for another related higher degree; 0.5 points for every 10 hours of training courses (max. 1 point); 0.25 points per concert performed (max. 1 point).

Operation of the pool and hiring

Once the competition phase has been evaluated, the tribunal will publish the results in order of qualification and submit the list to the Mayor’s Office. Calls will be made in order of score via telephone contact between 8:00 and 15:00 hours, with documentary evidence of each attempt. Those who decline a call will be penalized with 6 months of exclusion, except in justified cases of service provision, illness, childbirth, or acceptance of another job offer.

Hired candidates must provide supporting documentation and will undergo a 14-day probationary period. The pool will be valid for two years, extendable by express resolution for a period not exceeding six months, and will be maintained until the resolution of a new selection process for the same category.

The call opens a stable opportunity for piano professionals in the Aragonese Pyrenees, by guaranteeing the City Council an agile mechanism for covering leaves and unforeseen needs at the municipal music school during the coming academic years.
