The Deputación sets December 20 as the non-extendable deadline for justification

A Deputación fixa o 20 de decembro como prazo improrrogable de xustificación

The Governing Board of the Provincial Council of Ourense, in its ordinary session on September 1, 2026, approved the modification of the tenth clause of the regulatory bases for the call for grants for the prevention of forest fires and support for livestock and agricultural holdings for the 2026 financial year. The new wording establishes December 20, 2026, as the non-extendable deadline for submitting the justification of the aid.

The modification was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense (BOP no. 165, of August 31, 2026) and signed by the president of the Council, Luis Menor Pérez, dated September 2, 2026, under reference R. 2.138.

A tightening deadline

The original tenth clause, approved by the Governing Board on August 24, 2026, provided for a justification period that was generally non-extendable, but with exceptions for duly accredited force majeure. In such cases, the interested entity had to request the extension before October 31, and in no case could the extension exceed one and a half months.

Furthermore, for activities carried out in the months of November and December 2026, the deadline was extended until January 20, 2027. With the new wording, these possibilities for extension are suppressed and the deadline becomes peremptory.

What changes for the beneficiaries

The new wording of the tenth clause simplifies the calendar and eliminates the margins for extension:

  • The justification must be submitted to the Council by the deadline of December 20, 2026, on a non-extendable basis.
  • Extensions for force majeure and the extension until January 20, 2027, for activities in November and December are removed.
  • Both the justification and the waiver may be submitted in person or electronically, at the locations provided for in the fifth clause.
  • The rules of the fourth clause for the submission of applications in paper or electronic form apply, referring to the documentation of the justifying account.
  • There is no obligation to submit original documentation.

Appeals and means of challenge

Against the agreement, interested parties may file a request for annulment prior to the contentious-administrative appeal before the body that issued it, within a period of two months, or directly file a contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance of Ourense. In no case may both avenues be pursued simultaneously.

The deadlines shall be computed from date to date starting from the day following the receipt of the notification. During the month of August and between December 24 and January 6 of the following year, as well as on national and labor holidays, the deadline to file the contentious-administrative appeal shall not run.

The measure directly affects livestock farmers and farmers in the province applying for these grants, who must adjust their supporting documentation to the new closed calendar. The removal of extensions forces beneficiaries to plan the submission of the justifying account before December 20, without any margin for extension.
