873,360 euros in grants for electric vehicles in the Balearic Islands

The Department of Enterprise, Self-Employed and Energy of the Government of the Balearic Islands has granted a total of 873,360 euros in subsidies for actions supporting electric mobility, within the framework of the MOVES III 2025 program. The grants, which reach 171 beneficiaries including individuals and companies, are distributed in two resolutions published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) no. 108, of August 29, 2026.

The decision, signed by the Minister of Enterprise, Self-Employed and Energy upon the final proposal of the Director General of Circular Economy, Energy Transition and Climate Change, is materialized in resolutions 8642 and 8643, which grant 422,010 euros to 85 beneficiaries and 451,350 euros to 86 beneficiaries, respectively.

The framework of the MOVES III 2025 program

The public call for subsidies for actions supporting electric mobility was approved by means of the Resolution of the Minister of Enterprise, Employment and Energy of July 1, 2025, published in BOIB no. 85, of July 3, 2025. The funds come from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the Institute for Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE), and are financed from the general state budgets.

Technicians from the Directorate General of Circular Economy, Energy Transition and Climate Change examined the applications and issued a favorable report, verifying that the applicants can be beneficiaries, that they have provided the required documentation, and that they are up to date with their obligations to Social Security and the tax administration. The provisional resolution proposal was published in BOIB no. 68, of May 30, 2026, and the deadline for submitting allegations has expired.

Deadlines and conditions of the investments

The investments subject to the subsidy must be carried out within specific periods according to the type of beneficiary:

• Beneficiaries of sections a), b), c) and f): from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026.
• SMEs of sections d), e) and g) that have opted for the charging infrastructure deployment program, subject to the de minimis aid regime of Regulation (EU) 2023/2831: during the same period.
• Remaining beneficiaries of sections d), e) and g): after the date of submission of the application and until December 31, 2026.

The maximum deadline to justify the completion of the subsidized activities is December 31, 2026. Furthermore, the vehicle subject to the grant must appear in the IDAE vehicle database, and beneficiaries must guarantee the permanence of the investment for a minimum of two years for program 1 actions and five years for program 2 actions.

Obligations of the beneficiaries

Beneficiaries are obliged to comply with the conditions of the fourteenth section of the call for applications resolution, among which the following stand out:

• Carry out the activity or investment that justifies the granting of the subsidy.
• Communicate the receipt of other subsidies for the same purpose within three business days.
• Be up to date with tax and Social Security obligations.
• Grant access to the verification proceedings of the IDAE, the General Comptroller (Intervenció General), and the Audit Office (Sindicatura de Comptes).
• Retain the supporting documentation for a period of three years.

Impact on the energy transition

With this new round of aid, the Balearic Government consolidates public support for the decarbonization of the Islands’ vehicle fleet. The 873,360 euros distributed among 171 beneficiaries represent a direct boost for individuals and companies opting for electric mobility, in line with the objectives of emission reduction and the deployment of charging infrastructure across the archipelago.
