Yamaguchi Labor Bureau raises prefecture minimum wage to 1,101 yen

The Yamaguchi Labour Bureau published Yamaguchi Labour Bureau Minimum Wage Public Notice No. 1 in the Official Gazette dated September 8, 2026, raising the Yamaguchi Prefecture Minimum Wage from 1,043 yen to 1,101 yen per hour. The revision was determined based on the provisions of Article 12 of the Minimum Wage Act (Act No. 137 of 1959) and was publicized in accordance with the provisions of Article 14, Paragraph 1 of the same Act.

The public notice was issued under the name of Terumi Suzuki, Director of the Yamaguchi Labour Bureau, and takes the form of amending a portion of the existing Yamaguchi Prefecture Minimum Wage (Yamaguchi Labour Standards Bureau Minimum Wage Public Notice No. 1 of 1980). Specifically, it changes “1,043 yen per hour” to “1,101 yen per hour” in Item 4 of said notice, resulting in an increase of 58 yen per hour.

This revision follows the procedure in which the Director of the Prefectural Labour Bureau determines and publicizes the regional minimum wage based on the Minimum Wage Act. The minimum wage for Yamaguchi Prefecture is determined by the Director of the Labour Bureau based on Article 12 of the Act and publicized pursuant to the provisions of Article 14, Paragraph 1.

New Minimum Wage Amount

After the revision, the Yamaguchi Prefecture minimum wage will be 1,101 yen per hour. With the increase from the previous 1,043 yen, the statutory lower limit of wages applicable to all workers employed within the prefecture will be raised.
