Zamudio has opened registration for 90 stands and three stalls for the XXXIX. Agricultural Fair

The Zamudio City Council has approved the regulatory bases and the call for the application and allocation of stalls and booths for the XXXIX Agriculture and Livestock Fair. Mayoral decree number 2026-00626, signed by Mayor Lander Aretxabaleta on September 14, provides for a maximum of 90 sales stalls and 3 booths for the fair on November 8. The call was published in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia, issue 178, on September 17, 2026, with the official reference BOB-2026a178-(II-4859), and applications may be submitted from September 17 to October 2.

Fair Framework and Calendar

The fair will take place on November 8 in the municipality of Zamudio, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. According to the bases, there will be a maximum of 90 sales stalls and a maximum of 3 booths, the latter of which must have their own structure.

The announcement of the call is published in three places: the Official Gazette of Bizkaia, the municipal electronic notice board, and the www.zamudio.eus website. The decree also establishes that the city council will be notified of the mayor’s resolution.

The application period opens on September 17 and closes on October 2. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted, except in the case of filling vacant stalls.

Who May Participate

The essential condition for participating in the fair is to be the producer, processor, or transformer of the products exhibited or sold. Each person may only present their own products, and resale is prohibited; therefore, distributors are excluded.

• Primary producers: farmers or livestock breeders who produce, grow, and process products coming from the land, hunting, livestock, or fishing.
• Processors and transformers: farmers and livestock breeders who manipulate or transform production at their farm or elsewhere, as well as people who process products from primary producers.

Applications and Documentation

Applications must be submitted using the official model in Annex I, attaching the following documentation:

• Duly completed application.
• National Identity Document (DNI) or Tax Identification Code (CIF).
• Documentation verifying the nature of the agricultural or livestock farm, in the REGEPA or REGA registries.
• Verification that all food items for sale come from authorized establishments: Health Registry (RGSEAA number), registration in the Registry of Establishments of the CAPV (REACAV number), or primary production registry.
• Civil liability insurance covering the risks of the commercial activity, current and paid.
• Documentation verifying the allocation criteria.

If the application or documentation is incomplete, the interested party will be given a period of 10 business days to correct the error; otherwise, it will be understood that the application has been withdrawn.

Scoring and Allocation

In the case of producers, allocation is based on scoring. Origin grants a maximum of 10 points, and other criteria add 3, 2, and 2 points.

• Farm location in Zamudio: 10 points; in Txorierri: 8; in Bizkaia: 6; in the Basque Country: 4; in Navarre and the Northern Basque Country: 2; in the rest of the State: 1.
• Quality distinction certificate or Designation of Origin (DOP, IGP, TSG, Eusko Label): 3 points.
• Organic farming certificate (ENEEK in the Basque Country, other approved organizations in the State): 3 points.
• Young producer or new farm (owner under 41 years old or farm less than 5 years old): 2 points.
• Female producer (owner is a woman or management is led by women): 2 points.

Applications that obtain the highest score in each product typology will be selected until the maximum number of spots for that typology is filled; in the event of a tie, a draw will be held. In the case of stalls (txosnas), a draw will also be held among applications that meet the requirements, and the location of the organization’s headquarters will be valued: Zamudio 10 points, Txorierri 8, in the regions adjacent to Txorierri (Uribe, Mungialdea, Durangaldea, and Greater Bilbao) 6, in the rest of Bizkaia 4, in the rest of the Basque Country 2, and outside the Basque Country 1.

Technical requirements for stalls

To set up stalls, among other things, the following requirements must be met:

• Verification of the necessary training for food handling.
• Products must have a Designation of Origin or Quality Label, along with the corresponding Health Registry.
• Proximity to Zamudio will be valued.
• Possession of a permit to sell wine, cider, txakoli, soft drinks, and water.
• Access to running water, appropriate cleaning tools, and cooling equipment.
• Glasses and plates must be single-use and compostable in organic matter.
• A cleanable work surface and high surfaces for placing food off the ground.

Operation and impact of the spots

Loading and unloading, as well as the assembly of the spots, must be carried out from 8:00 to 9:00, and products may not be removed before 15:00. No merchandise may be placed outside the spot, nor may the circulation of walkways be obstructed; spots cannot be divided, and participants must leave the area around the spot clean.

The award will be decided by mayoral decree, and both accepted and rejected applicants will be notified of the results. Rejected applications will form a waiting list according to their score, and those who leave a spot unused without providing a justified reason may be excluded from the next edition. If the fair is prohibited for reasons of public interest or if the City Council considers the event unfeasible, the fair will be cancelled due to force majeure, in accordance with Article 1,105 of the Civil Code.

The Zamudio fair will celebrate its 39th edition on November 8, and this call opens a two-week window for local producers, processors, and transformers. The sectoral distribution of spots aims to ensure product diversity, and the points awarded for origin, quality certificates, young producers, and female producers prioritize the participation of local and regional farms.
