The Department of Culture, Language and Youth announced the awards for the Xuventude Crea program for the year 2026, through the Order of August 14, 2026 (procedure code BS310Q), published in the Official Gazette of Galicia number 164, on August 31, 2026. The call allocates a credit of 87,900 euros to 15 artistic specialties, aimed at people between 16 and 30 years old.

The order establishes the bases governing the granting of the awards and proceeds to their call under a competitive bidding process, under the framework of Law 9/2007, of June 13, on subsidies in Galicia, and its regulation approved by Decree 11/2009. The funding is charged to the budgetary application 13.05.313A.480.10, consigned in Law 4/2025 of the general budgets of the Autonomous Community for 2026. The extract of the call is registered in the National Database of Subsidies (BDNS) with the identifier 926016.

Specialties and awards

The program covers 15 artistic specialties, each with its own endowment:

  • Plastic arts (painting and sculpture), urban art, comics, cooking, video game creation, modern dance, jewelry design, DJ (disc-jockey), photography, fashion, music, short novel, poetry, theater (amateur and pro) and video creation.

For each specialty, a first prize of 2,000 €, a second of 1,500 €, and a third of 1,000 € are established, in addition to a special prize of 1,000 € for the classical music modality. Honorable mentions without economic endowment may be granted, and the prizes may be declared void or shared depending on the quality of the works.

Who can participate

Non-professional individuals—except for theater in the pro modality—who meet the following requirements may apply for participation:

  • Be between 16 and 30 years old in 2026.
  • Possess Spanish nationality, be a national of a European Union country or a foreign person resident in Spain, and carry out their artistic activity mainly in Galicia.
  • Or be a descendant of a Galician emigrant up to the third degree, or have habitual residence abroad linked to a Galician municipality in the registry of Spaniards residing abroad (PERE).

Participation shall be on an individual basis, except in the specialties of cooking, video game creation, modern dance, DJ, music, theater, and video creation. Anyone who won the first prize in a specialty in the previous edition may not repeat in the same modality.

Deadline and processing

The deadline for submitting applications is one month, counted from the day following the publication of the order in the Official Gazette of Galicia, that is, until October 1, 2026. The order was signed by delegation by the technical general secretary of the department, Elvira Mª Casal García, in Santiago de Compostela on August 14, 2026.

The call for applications represents an opportunity for Galician youth to make their work known and to obtain financial recognition and an accrediting diploma, within a framework that favors creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit promoted by the Xunta de Galicia through its youth policy.
