The Xunta appoints two managers in the Ferrol Health Area.

The Xunta de Galicia’s Regional Ministry of Health published today, 18 August 2026, the resolution appointing the new directors of the Ferrol Health Area within the framework of a free designation procedure. The order, signed by the Regional Minister Antonio Gómez Caamaño in Santiago de Compostela on 6 August 2026, appears in Section IV (Competitive Examinations and Competitions) of DOG No. 155, on page 45001.

The call for applications was originally published by Order of 9 June 2026, appearing in DOG No. 114 of 19 June. The procedure was governed by Article 59 of Decree 206/2005, of 22 July, on the provision of statutory staff posts in the Galician Health Service, also published in the DOG (No. 145, 29 July). This regulation governs the free designation system for access to management positions in Galician health areas.

Appointed names and positions

The order selects and appoints two people to hold management positions in the Ferrol Health Area:

• Director of Care: José Lorenzo Muñoz Iglesias
• Director of Hospital Care: Daniel Núñez Arias

The ID numbers of those appointed appear encrypted in the annex to the order, in accordance with personal data protection regulations. The resolution is final and will enter into force on the same day of its publication in the Official Gazette of Galicia.

Appeals and deadlines against the resolution

The order exhausts the administrative route. The following appeals may be lodged against it:

• Administrative litigation appeal, within two months counted from the day following publication, before the competent administrative litigation court, in accordance with Articles 8, 14 and 46 of Law 29/1998, of 13 July, regulating administrative litigation jurisdiction.
• Administrative reconsideration appeal (optional and prior), within one month from the day following publication, before the governing body that issued the order, in accordance with Articles 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations.

Legal and jurisdictional framework

The order is based on the powers attributed to the Regional Ministry of Health and on Article 59 of Decree 206/2005, which regulates the procedures for providing statutory staff posts in the Galician Health Service. Free designation is the usual mechanism by which management positions in health areas are filled, allowing the administration to directly select candidates who meet the requirements established in the regulation.

The appointment of the new healthcare and hospital directors in Ferrol guarantees coverage of the management and coordination positions in the health area, which serves the Ferrolterra region and the north of the province of A Coruña. This resolution is part of a periodic process of renewal of the management teams of the Galician public health system.
