Xunqueira de Espadanedo opens a 500 euro line for births

Por FactBox Admin

Xunqueira de Espadanedo abre unha liña de 500 euros por nacemento

The City Council of Xunqueira de Espadanedo has opened a line of grants of 500 euros for each child born, adopted, or placed under guardianship during the year 2026. The call, signed by Mayor Pablo Graña Rodríguez, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense on October 30, 2026, in section IV. Local Entities, with the official reference R. 2.473.

The summary of the guidelines sets the purpose as “promoting and supporting the birth rate” in the municipality and “contributing to alleviate the costs associated with the upbringing of sons and daughters, at least in the first moments after birth.” It is, therefore, a direct economic benefit to families, without third-party intermediation and with a fixed amount for each minor who qualifies for the subsidy.

The measure is part of the social aid policy that the City Council has been deploying throughout 2026. The same provincial gazette published another summary from the City Council of Xunqueira de Espadanedo on September 16, 2026, for the acquisition of school materials, with a maximum amount of 80 euros per student in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education registered in the municipality.

500 euros per minor and a single grant per applicant

Each child born, placed under guardianship, or adopted entitles the applicant to a single grant in the amount of 500.00 euros. The amount is intended to subsidize expenses linked to the care of minors, as stated in the summary itself.

The published text does not set income limits to access the benefit nor does it require previous periods of registration in the municipality, unlike other birth rate calls in the province that do incorporate those conditions. Nor is a maximum number of applications per family unit established: the criterion is that each minor generates a single grant.

Who can apply for the grant

  • Parents of a minor born between January 1 and December 31, 2026.
  • Adopting persons or those declared in a situation of guardianship for adoption purposes, provided that the establishment of the adoption or guardianship takes place within 2026.
  • Guardians of a minor, when the establishment of the guardianship also occurs between January 1 and December 31, 2026.

Deadline open throughout the year

The call does not organize the deadline in phases: the summary indicates that the period for submitting applications “will be open throughout the year 2026.” This implies that the line remains available from the publication in the provincial gazette until the close of the fiscal year, without an intermediate cutoff date.

The call is completed with the signature of the mayor, Pablo Graña Rodríguez, and the registration number R. 2.473, which identifies the announcement within the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense.

Other councils in the province with similar lines

The initiative is not isolated in the province of Ourense. In the last two months, several municipal calls with the same objective have been published:

  • Esgos Council: regulatory bases for birth grants for 2026, with a maximum amount of 500.00 euros per minor, a credit of 3,000.00 euros and an application deadline until December 15, 2026 (BOP of October 21, 2026).
  • Pereiro de Aguiar Council: grants for birth or adoption with the “Benvido/a ao Pereiro VI” card, with an amount of 250.00 euros per boy and girl, approved by the Local Government Board on October 16, 2026 (BOP of October 26, 2026, BDNS 935812).
  • San Cibrao das Viñas Council: final approval of the modification of the regulatory ordinance for grants to promote birth (BOP of September 24, 2026).

The comparison between calls shows notable design differences: Xunqueira de Espadanedo opts for an amount of 500 euros without prior residence conditions specified in the extract, while Pereiro de Aguiar applies 250 euros but requires one uninterrupted year of registration (empadronamiento) prior to the application.

Relevance for residents

For families with young children registered in Xunqueira de Espadanedo, the grant represents a direct income of 500 euros per minor, compatible with a single application per child and available throughout the entire fiscal year. The open nature of the deadline facilitates the process for families who have a child or formalize an adoption or guardianship in the final months of 2026, who do not have to wait for a subsequent call.
