Por FactBox Admin

The Xove City Council announces the prizes for the XIV Christmas Karaoke Contest 2026, an event with a budget of 900 euros aimed at encouraging neighborhood participation in Christmas activities. The call was approved by Mayoral Resolution No. 2026-1528, dated October 27, 2026, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo No. 251, dated November 2, 2026, with reference R. 2971 and identifier BDNS 938222.
The extract disseminated through the National Grants Database reports a call protected by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Grants Law, which requires the council to send information regarding the granting of these awards to the BDNS. The regulatory bases are those approved within the framework of the municipal General Grants Ordinance, published in BOP No. 136, dated June 16, 2025.
The maximum allocation is 900 euros, charged to item 338.481 of the Municipal Budget Expenditure Statement. The text was signed in Xove on October 27, 2026, by the mayor, José Demetrio Salgueiro Rapa.
Three categories and eight awards
The contest is structured into three age categories, and in each of them, two types of prizes are awarded: “Best voice,” with two awards per category, and “Best characterization.” In the first case, the jury considers the quality of the voice, modulation, or intonation; in the second, it evaluates the costume, makeup, and similar aspects.
- Kids: under 12 years old. “Best voice” prize (2 prizes) of 60 euros and “Best characterization” prize of 60 euros.
- Junior: persons aged 12 or older who have not yet turned 18. “Best voice” prize (2 prizes) of 90 euros and “Best characterization” prize of 90 euros.
- Veterans: persons aged 18 or older. “Best voice” prize (2 prizes) of 150 euros and “Best characterization” prize of 150 euros.
Anyone may participate, with one limitation: only in one of the three categories. The organization reserves the possibility of closing registration before the deadline if an excess of participants affects the quality of the competition.
In-person registration until December 18
The registration form must be submitted personally at the council offices. The ordinary deadline ends on Friday, December 18, 2026, at 2:30 PM, although registration can also be formalized on the day of the contest, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the Xove Municipal Pavilion.
In addition to the form, a copy of the contestant’s NIF (Tax ID) or that of their legal guardian in the case of minors must be provided. The rest of the documentation can be submitted along with the registration or, in any case, before the agreement to grant the prizes. For the preliminary rehearsals, preference will be given to those who registered earlier at the council, according to the order of registration.
Net prizes and tax treatment
The award amounts are liquid and not subject to withholding, according to the Personal Income Tax Regulations approved by Royal Decree 439/2007, of March 30, as they are less than 300 euros. In general, prizes are included within the scope of Law 38/2003 and are subject to IRPF (Personal Income Tax) in accordance with article 75.2 of the same regulation.
The city council will not be obliged to communicate the award resolutions or the payment to the BDNS when the annual amount granted to the same beneficiary does not exceed 100 euros, in accordance with Royal Decree 130/2019.
The call for entries reaches its fourteenth edition in a context of strong competition between city councils to program Christmas activities with neighborhood participation. For the families of Xove, the contest is one of the most recognized events on the festive calendar: it opens a path of eight awards distributed by age and specialty, with a modest budget but a fixed presence in Christmas events. Those who wish to compete have until December 18 to formalize their registration at the town hall.
