Xove opens the application period for the XII Environmental Photography Contest

The Xove City Council announces the prizes for the XII Environmental Photography Contest “Xove, its coast and its sea,” with a deadline for submitting applications ending on October 30, 2026. The call was approved by Mayoral Resolution No. 2026-1302, dated September 15, 2026, and was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo No. 217, dated September 22, 2026, under reference R. 2505. The announcement is disseminated as an extract in the National Grants Database (BDNS), with identifier 929661.

The extract is published under articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of November 17, general grants law, and the full text of the call is available in the BDNS. The regulatory bases were approved within the framework of the General Grants Ordinance of the Xove City Council, published in the BOP No. 136, dated June 16, 2025. The announcement bears the signature of the mayor, José Demetrio Salgueiro Rapa, and is dated in Xove on September 16, 2026. This is the twelfth edition of an already established competition, whose declared objective is to encourage citizen participation in the protection of the environment through imagery and reflection.

A competition open to anyone

Any person may participate in the contest and be a beneficiary of these grants, as the official extract establishes no limitations regarding age, residence, or connection to the municipality. Documentation must be submitted in a sealed envelope, which must state on the outside: XII Environmental Photography Contest “Xove, its coast and its sea.”

The envelope shall include the following documents:

• Registration form and declaration of authorship established for this purpose.
• Copy of the contestant’s N.I.F. (Tax ID).
• CD or pendrive containing the digital images.

Deadline and submission methods

The envelope must be submitted by October 30, 2026. The call allows for two delivery methods:

• Document Entry Registry, at the City Hall (Camiño Real, S/N; 27870, Xove).
• Sending by ordinary postal mail, recording the date of submission at the Post Office, which must likewise be no later than October 30, 2026.

Five prizes in a single category

The contest is structured in a single category and distributes five prizes, the amounts of which are net:

• First prize: 120 euros.
• Second prize: 100 euros.
• Third prize: 90 euros.
• Fourth prize: 75 euros.
• Fifth prize: 65 euros.

Payment is made via bank transfer. In accordance with article 75.3 of RD 439/2007, of March 30, there is no obligation to make withholdings for any of the prizes, as the amounts are less than 300 euros.

Tax regime and publicity of the grants

Generally, the prizes are included within the scope of Law 38/2003, therefore the Xove City Council is a body obliged to provide the BDNS with information regarding the award. They are subject to IRPF according to article 75.2 of RD 439/2007, and the State Tax Administration Agency is among the recipient bodies of the data registered in the BDNS, by virtue of article 20 of Law 38/2003.

However, article 4 of RD 130/2019 exempts the council from providing information on the award resolutions and payments when the annual amount granted to a single beneficiary does not exceed 100 euros.

The call remains open until the end of October as a means of citizen participation in environmental protection through imagery, the objective that the abstract itself attributes to the competition. For the residents and photography enthusiasts of the Mariña lucense, the contest offers five cash prizes and a showcase to portray the coast and the sea of Xove.
