A participation body for the diaspora

The Council of Galician Communities is the participation and advisory body of the Xunta de Galicia in which Galician entities and communities abroad are represented. Its plenary, which meets periodically, serves as a forum to address emigration and return policies and to channel contributions from the diaspora to the regional administration.

The choice of Rio de Janeiro as the venue for this XIV edition underlines the weight of the Galician community in Brazil, one of the main centers of historical Galician emigration in America. The Brazilian city will host the working sessions over two consecutive days.
