Viveiro appoints Bruno Álvarez Gómez as career professor

The Mayor’s Office of Viveiro has decided to appoint Mr. Bruno Álvarez Gómez as a career civil servant to permanently occupy the position of Professor (EC2/059), in the Special Administration Scale, Technical Subscale of the City Council. The decision, signed on August 25, 2026, by the Mayor Ms. María Carmen Gueimunde González, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 196, on August 28, 2026 (reference R. 2312).

The appointment concludes a free-access selection process, by competitive examination, convened within the framework of the 2023 Public Employment Offer (OEP). The resolution brings the procedure to a close following the timely and proper submission of the required documentation by the selected candidate.

A process initiated in 2025

The call and the regulatory bases were approved by the Mayor’s Office on October 21, 2025, and published in the BOP of Lugo number 245, on October 24, 2025. The announcement was also disseminated in the Official Gazette of Galicia (number 227, November 24, 2025) and in the Official State Gazette (number 289, December 2, 2025), which set the deadline for submitting applications at 20 business days.

The tribunal of the process issued its proposal in favor of Mr. Bruno Álvarez Gómez, which was accepted by a resolution of the Mayor’s Office published in the BOP of Lugo number 178, on August 6, 2026. The final appointment resolution, now published, confirms his permanent incorporation.

Assumption of office and procedures

The resolution establishes the deadlines and conditions for the incorporation of the new civil servant:

• 15 calendar days to take possession of the position and post, counted from the publication of the appointment in the BOP of Lugo.
• One month when the assumption of office involves a change of residence location.
• For interim and temporary civil service personnel, the assumption of office shall occur on the day following the appointment.

The agreement is sent to the personnel department, the payroll department, and the intervention and Treasury department, and is notified to the interested party. The resolution was signed before the general secretary, Ms. María Luz Balsa Rábade, under article 3.2 of Royal Decree 128/2018.

Relevance for the community

The appointment consolidates a municipal technical position that directly affects the educational community of Viveiro, by guaranteeing the stable coverage of a professor’s post within the City Council’s staff. With this agreement, the selection process initiated in 2025 is definitively closed, providing legal certainty to both the appointed candidate and the municipal organization.
