Viveiro announces a vacancy for local police officer via internal promotion

The Viveiro City Council has announced the selection process for the permanent appointment, via internal promotion, of one position for local police officer, corresponding to the RPT post “Local Police Officer” (AS2-/157) of the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale. The call and the regulatory bases, approved by the Mayor’s Office on July 30, 2026, are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 193, dated August 25, 2026 (reference R. 2228).

The position, vacant in the council’s personnel staff, is included in the 2025 public employment offer. The process is governed by the approved bases and, supplementarily, by the basic regulations for the selection of personnel in the service of Local Administration, including Royal Decree 896/1991, of June 7, which establishes the basic rules and minimum programs for the selection of Local Administration officials.

Requirements to participate

The process is aimed exclusively at personnel of the Viveiro local police force who wish to be promoted. Applicants must meet, among others, the following requirements:

• Be a career civil servant and hold a permanent position in the category of local police in the Viveiro City Council.
• Be in active service in the category of local police within the council’s police force.
• Have a minimum seniority of three continuous years in the police category.
• Accredit knowledge of the Galician language (level Celga 4 or equivalent), or pass the Galician language test.
• Have no criminal record for intentional crimes and not be disqualified from exercising public functions.
• Have more than one year remaining before retirement due to age.

Submission of applications and deadline

Applications shall be submitted to the General Registry of the Viveiro City Council, using the official form published as Annex I, downloadable from the municipal website (viveiro.gal/emprego). The submission period is 20 business days, counted from the day following the publication of the call announcement in the Official State Gazette, which will be the date that marks the start of the count.

The call will also be published with reference in the Official Gazette of Galicia, on the entity’s digital notice board, and on its website. Subsequent notifications of the procedure will be made through publication in the BOP and the insertion of edicts on the council’s notice board.

Phases of the selection process

The process combines a competition phase (merits) and an examination phase, with a maximum weighting of 10 points: 40% corresponds to the competition (4 points) and 60% to the examination (6 points). The examination phase includes a knowledge test, a practical case, and, for those who do not accredit Galician, a Galician language assessment test, with a minimum of 5 points required in each of the first two tests.

The tribunal will remit to the AGASP the proposal for the award of the position according to the result of the process, in a number not exceeding the number of positions announced. The selected person will be appointed as a civil servant in training and must pass the corresponding training course and internship period.

This call represents an opportunity for promotion for the agents of the local police force of Viveiro, who will be able to progress in their professional career within the municipality itself. The publication in the BOP and the subsequent reference in the BOE open a period of 20 business days for interested parties to submit their application.
