Villena presents its 2025 General Account to the public

The Special Accounts Commission of the Villena City Council agreed, in an extraordinary session held on August 27, 2026, to issue a favorable report on the General Account file of the municipality and its autonomous bodies corresponding to the 2025 financial year. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante number 163, dated August 28, 2026, and opens a fifteen-day period for interested parties to examine the documentation and submit allegations.
The public exhibition is processed in accordance with article 212.3 of the Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the Recast Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries. The fifteen-day period is calculated from the publication of the announcement in the provincial gazette, during which claims, objections, or observations may be submitted.
Purpose of the exhibition
The General Account includes the budget liquidation, the balance sheet, the economic-patrimonial result account, and the report for the financial year, both for the Villena City Council itself and its autonomous bodies. The favorable report from the Special Accounts Commission constitutes the preliminary step to the accountability process before the Municipal Plenary.

The announcement is signed by the Delegate Councilor for Finance and Economic Services, Juan José Olivares Tomás, and is published in the III. Local Administration section of the provincial gazette. The publication in the BOP of Alicante provides official publicity to the agreement and initiates the calculation of the period for allegations.
The opening of this procedure reinforces transparency and the control of the municipal accounts of Villena, by allowing citizens and political groups to verify the economic management of the 2025 financial year before its final approval by the Plenary.
