Villaralto abre el plazo para elegir a su juez de paz sustituto

The Villaralto City Council has approved the public call for the election of the person who will hold the position of Substitute Justice of the Peace in the municipality. The decision was formalized by Mayoral resolution and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba number 205, corresponding to Thursday, October 22, 2026, on page 15304, with the official reference BOP-A-2026-3534. The deadline for submitting candidacies is 15 business days and begins to count the day following the publication of the announcement.

The call is part of the ordinary procedure for the appointment of justices of the peace, a local figure who assumes minor jurisdictional functions in municipalities that are not the seat of a court of first instance. The text expressly refers to Regulation 3/1995 of the Justices of the Peace and the Organic Law of the Judiciary as the regulatory framework for the requirements and incompatibilities applicable to applicants.

The resolution is dated in Villaralto on October 16, 2026, and signed by the mayor-president, Celia Valverde González, with an electronic signature registered on October 22 at 08:03:48 hours and secure verification code 444B B27F 27BB 8E1D 1B7F.

Fifteen business days to apply

The calendar is the first determining factor for interested parties: the application submission period is 15 business days and is computed from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba. The announcement appears in number 205, of October 22, 2026, within the Local Administration section.

Applications must be formalized using the model provided by the Villaralto City Council, which is published on the edicts board of the municipal electronic office. Submission can be made at the Entry Registry of the Town Hall or through any of the channels provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

The announcement details the four requirements that those aspiring to the position must prove, all of which are anchored in article 1 of Regulation 3/1995 of the Justices of the Peace:

  • Possess Spanish nationality.
  • Be of legal age.
  • Not be subject to any of the causes of incapacity established in article 303 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary.
  • Not be affected by the incompatibilities and prohibitions regulated in articles 389 to 397 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary and in article 14 of Regulation 3/1995 of the Justices of the Peace.

The published announcement does not specify a quota of vacancies or a merit scale, beyond the requirement to meet these legal requirements.

A common figure in the province’s municipalities

The selection of a substitute justice of the peace is a recurring procedure in the town halls of Córdoba. In the same fiscal year, the Los Blázquez Town Hall published an equivalent call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba number 157, dated August 14, 2026, with the reference BOP-A-2026-2778, although in that case, the deadline was set at 10 business days under article 83 of Law 39/2015.

In the case of Villaralto, the announcement is limited to the requirements and the submission procedure, without detailing the subsequent calendar for the evaluation of candidacies or the date of taking office.

The position of substitute justice of the peace covers absences, vacancies, or impediments of the holder in a small municipality, where this figure is the closest entry point to the administration of justice. For the residents of Villaralto, the call opens the possibility for a resident to assume these functions and guarantees the continuity of the service while the appointment is resolved.
