Villanueva de la Vera approves its municipal forest fire plan

The City Council of Villanueva de la Vera has initially approved the Municipal Action Plan for Forest Fires (PAMIF) for its municipal district, a key instrument for the prevention of and response to fire risks in an area of high forest value. The agreement was adopted by the municipal Plenary on September 3, 2026, and its announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres, number 0175, dated September 14, 2026, in Section I of Local Administration.

The plan is now subject to public exhibition for 15 days, starting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the gazette and on the entity’s notice board, so that interested parties may examine it and submit any allegations they deem appropriate.

A reference instrument in civil protection

The PAMIF of Villanueva de la Vera is defined as the municipal reference instrument for the preparation, prevention, and response to the risk of forest fires. Its objective is to guarantee the integration of the municipality into the public Civil Protection system and ensure coordination with higher-level plans, both regional and national.

Therefore, the document is not limited to extinction, but rather articulates the municipal organization in the face of an emergency, the mobilization of resources, and collaboration with the extinction and emergency services of the autonomous community.

Deadlines and allegations procedure

During the public exhibition period, the plan may be consulted through the following channels:

• The Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres, where the announcement is published.
• The Notice Board of the City Council of Villanueva de la Vera.
• The electronic office of the City Council, where it will be available to interested parties.

Once the 15-day period has elapsed, if no claims or suggestions have been submitted, the agreement will be understood as definitively adopted, without the need for a new pronouncement by the Plenary.

The announcement is signed by the mayor of Villanueva de la Vera, Daniel González Morcuende, dated September 3, 2026. The document bears the official reference CVE: BOP-2026-4286 and is published on page 21054 of the gazette.

The approval of the PAMIF places Villanueva de la Vera within the framework of Extremaduran municipalities that provide their districts with their own fire action plan, a relevant step for a municipality in the La Vera region, a territory with a significant forest mass and seasonal fire risk.
