Villanueva de la Serena opens grants of up to 500 euros for farmers
Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Villanueva de la Serena has announced financial aid between 200 and 500 euros intended for the municipality’s farmers to modernize and maintain their activity during 2026. The call is published via Announcement 4194/2026 of the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz (BOP) number 203, corresponding to Thursday, October 22, 2026, with the identifier BDNS 936358. The application period begins the day following that publication and concludes on November 10, 2026.
Bases approved by the Local Government Board
The regulatory bases were approved by the Local Government Board in an ordinary session on October 13, 2026, and were published in full in BOP number 200, on Monday, October 19, 2026, via Announcement 4110/2026. In the same agreement, the public call was approved and an expenditure of 10,000.00 euros was authorized, charged to budget item 13/414/479 of the current municipal budget.
The purpose of the grants is the modernization, increase of productivity, and development of new productive orientations during the 2026 fiscal year. The legal framework is completed by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, its regulation approved by Royal Decree 887/2006, and the municipal General Ordinance on Subsidies, approved by the Plenary on May 26, 2005.
Strict requirements and territorial exclusions
To access the aid, it is necessary to simultaneously meet several conditions:
- That the only activity carried out by the owner is agricultural, with the farm registered and the single application submitted.
- That the applicant owns an agricultural warehouse dedicated solely and exclusively to agricultural activity.
- That the registered social and tax address of the applicant is in Villanueva de la Serena; farmers domiciled in the minor local entities of Entrerríos, Valdivia, and Zurbarán, or in their areas of influence, are excluded.
- Not to incur the prohibitions of article 13.2 of Law 38/2003.
- To be up to date with tax obligations, including debt with the City Council of Villanueva de la Serena itself in voluntary and executive stages, and with Social Security.
Entrepreneurs, professionals, or tenants who, while owning agricultural properties, are not exclusively dedicated to agricultural activity, as well as plots located outside the municipal boundary, are expressly excluded.
Amounts according to the surface area of the warehouse
The amount is determined by surface area brackets of the agricultural warehouse:
- Up to 200 m²: 200.00 euros.
- From 201 to 300 m²: 250.00 euros.
- From 301 to 400 m²: 400.00 euros.
- From 401 to 500 m²: 450.00 euros.
- More than 500 m²: 500.00 euros.
The processing of the procedure corresponds to the Department of Agriculture, which will publish the lists of complete, incomplete, and excluded applications on the notice board, with five business days to rectify any errors. The maximum period for resolution and notification is three months from the publication of the summary, after which the application shall be deemed rejected due to administrative silence. Payment will be made via bank transfer.
Documentation and Procedure
Along with the application, the following must be provided: ID or deed of incorporation, a responsible declaration regarding Article 13 of Law 38/2003, the property tax (IBI) receipt, certificates from the state, regional, and municipal tax authorities and from Social Security, the 2025 income tax (IRPF) return, the single application form, the cadastral certificate specifying the surface area of the warehouse, and registration in the special system for self-employed agricultural workers. The summary invokes the competitive bidding process of Article 22 of Law 38/2003, while the seventh clause of the full text establishes the award based on the order of entry registration, with pro-rating if necessary. The final resolution may be appealed for reconsideration before the Mayor’s Office within one month or before the contentious-administrative jurisdiction within two months. The announcement is signed by the mayor, Ana Belén Fernández González.
The call for applications arrives with a margin of barely three weeks to submit paperwork and with a credit of 10,000 euros which, at the maximum bracket, would cover at most twenty files. For the farmers of Villanueva, the aid barely offsets the maintenance of a warehouse, yet it requires a considerable documentary and fiscal burden and excludes those residing in the outlying hamlets.
