Villamayor de Campos announces the opening for the position of titular Justice of the Peace

The Villamayor de Campos City Council has called for the filling of the position of titular Justice of the Peace, whose mandate ends on November 2, 2026. The announcement, signed by the Mayor on September 7, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Zamora number 105, dated September 9, 2026, within section III of Local Administration.

The call is part of the procedure provided for the renewal of justices of the peace, positions of local judicial relevance that exercise jurisdictional functions in municipalities without their own court. The municipal plenary will propose to the Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León the appointment of the individuals who are suitable and fit to hold the office.

Deadline and place of submission

Persons interested in the appointment must submit their application to the Villamayor de Campos City Council, during office hours, or through any of the procedures determined in article 38 of the LRJ-PAC. The deadline is thirty calendar days, counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the official gazette.

Required documentation

Candidates must provide the following documentation:

• Photocopy of the DNI (National ID).
• Certificate of census registration (empadronamiento).
• Criminal record certificate.
• Sworn statement certifying that they are in full exercise of their civil rights, that they are Spanish and of legal age, that they are not physically or mentally impeded from judicial functions, and that they will reside in the town, unless authorized by the Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice.

The sworn statement must also certify that the applicant is not subject to any cause of incapacity, incompatibility, or prohibition provided for in articles 389 to 397 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary. Both the application and the sworn statement template are available to interested parties at the City Council.

Relevance of the position

The figure of the Justice of the Peace guarantees the administration of justice in small municipalities where there is no court of first instance and instruction. Its periodic renewal ensures the continuity of the local judicial service and the proximity of justice to the residents of Villamayor de Campos, a position that, once proposed by the plenary, will be appointed by the Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León.
