Villagonzalo Pedernales: the LPG network will be converted to natural gas

NEDGIA Castilla y León, S.A. has requested authorization to convert the distribution network currently supplied with LPG to natural gas and to decommission plant GLP-178-09 in the municipality of Villagonzalo Pedernales (Burgos). The request is subject to public consultation via an announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos number 169, dated September 7, 2026 (reference BOPBUR-2026-03350), and opens a period of 20 business days for the submission of allegations.

The procedure is being processed before the Territorial Service of Industry, Commerce, and Economy of Burgos, under the Territorial Delegation of the Junta de Castilla y León, and is governed by Article 78 of Royal Decree 1434/2002, of December 27, which regulates the activities of transport, distribution, marketing, supply, and the authorization procedures for natural gas installations. The publication is carried out in compliance with Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

Object and scope of the project

The action combines the conversion of the existing network and the decommissioning of the LPG infrastructure. The current owner of the facilities is Gas Natural Redes GLP, S.A., while the authorization request corresponds to NEDGIA Castilla y León, S.A., which will undertake the transformation.

  • Object: conversion to natural gas at MOP 3.5 BAR of the existing facilities supplied with LPG and decommissioning of plant GLP-178-09.
  • Affected network: conversion of the PE 100 DN32 distribution network, 234 meters long, from LPG to natural gas.
  • Budget: 11,192.79 euros.

Deadline and method for submitting allegations

Any interested person may examine the project on the website of the Junta de Castilla y León, in the Energy and Mines Section (www.energia.jcyl.es), within the public information section on energy and mines. Allegations may be filed before the Territorial Service of Industry, Commerce, and Economy of Burgos, at Glorieta de Bilbao, no. 3, 1st floor, on business days from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

  • Deadline: 20 business days, counted from the publication of the announcement.
  • Place of submission: Territorial Service of Industry, Commerce, and Economy of Burgos.
  • Announcement signature: María Dolores Velasco Lajo, head of the territorial service, in Burgos on July 29, 2026.

Relevance for residents

The conversion of the LPG network to natural gas will entail a change in the energy supply for the residents of Villagonzalo Pedernales, who will move from a liquefied gas system to the piped natural gas network, with the subsequent decommissioning of the LPG plant. Citizen participation in the public information process is key so that those affected can become acquainted with the project and submit any allegations they deem appropriate before the authorization is resolved.
