Villafranca convoca seis plazas de Monitor Deportivo interino por concurso-oposición

The City Council of Villafranca de los Barros has approved the guidelines for the provision, through a competitive examination system (concurso-oposición), of several Sports Monitor positions for its Municipal Sports Delegation, with interim employment contracts until the positions are permanently filled. The call for applications is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 174, dated September 11, 2026, under Announcement 3551/2026.

The decision stems from Mayoral Resolution number 1250/2026, of September 4, signed by Mayor Francisco Jiménez Araya, which approves the guidelines, convenes the selection process, and orders its dissemination in the provincial gazette, on the electronic municipal headquarters’ notice board, and at the Local SEXPE Office of Villafranca de los Barros.

Positions and Conditions

Six positions for Sports Monitor are called, classified under Group 3 of labor personnel, distributed across two schedules:

  • 3 Sports Monitors full-time (100%).
  • 3 Sports Monitors part-time (50%).

The part-time schedule will be provided in a condensed format, with weekly hourly distribution during each academic year, including the proportional part of breaks and vacations. Remuneration will be as established in the agreement for the same category and specialty, and the position is subject to Law 53/84 regarding incompatibilities of personnel in the service of public administrations.

Requirements and Submission of Applications

Applicants must meet the requirements on the day the application deadline ends and maintain them throughout the process. These include Spanish nationality or compliance with Article 57 of the Basic Statute of the Public Employee, being at least sixteen years old, possessing the necessary functional capacity, and the required qualification in accordance with Law 15/2015 on the regulation of sports professions in Extremadura and its implementing regulations.

Applications, addressed to the mayor-president, shall be submitted at the general registry of the City Council (from 9:00 to 14:00, Monday to Friday) or via the electronic headquarters, within a period of 5 business days starting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the provincial gazette. Examination fees are set at 25 euros according to the municipal tax ordinance, with exemptions for the unemployed and discounts of 50% or 30% for large families and persons with a disability equal to or greater than 33%.

Phases of the Selection Process

The procedure combines an examination phase and a merit-based phase:

  • First exercise: a multiple-choice questionnaire of 50 questions (plus 10 reserve questions) with four options, in a maximum of 95 minutes, covering the common syllabus.
  • Second exercise: a written practical case study on teaching skills, training and organization of activities, as well as knowledge of the municipal sports facilities.
  • Competition phase: assessment of work experience (up to 2 points), qualifications (up to 3 points), and training (up to 0.5 points).

In the event of a tie, priority will be given to the score from the competitive examination phase. The Examining Board will be chaired by a career civil servant and will include three technical members, with the presence of union observers throughout the process.

Job Bank

Once the process is completed, a job bank will be established in order of score, consisting of candidates who pass the competitive examination phase but are not selected, to cover temporary disability leave, interim vacancies, or reinforcements. The job bank will come into effect upon the publication of the final lists and will have a validity of three years, and may be validated or replaced by new job banks.

The call for applications represents a significant opportunity for sports professionals in the region, who may apply for stable interim positions in the local administration and be available to be called upon for any temporary needs of the municipal sports service.
