Villaescusa de Roa exempts vehicles over 30 years old from tax

The Villaescusa de Roa City Council has provisionally approved a 100% tax relief on the mechanical traction vehicle tax for all vehicles over 30 years old. The measure, adopted by the Plenary in an ordinary session held on May 20, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos, number 164, dated August 31, 2026, page 15, with reference BOPBUR-2026-03630.

The decision is framed within the inclusion of Article 6 of the fiscal ordinance regulating the mechanical traction vehicle tax, processed in accordance with Articles 15.1, 16, and 17.1 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, which approves the consolidated text of the Local Treasuries Law. The agreement, signed on August 19, 2026, by the mayor, Jesús Martínez Bombín, directly benefits the owners of historic vehicles in the municipality.

Full tax relief for vintage vehicles

The new Article 6 of the ordinance establishes that the tax will be relieved by 100% of its quota starting from 30 years of vehicle age. This is a total exemption that eliminates the tax burden for automobiles considered historic or collectibles.

The measure represents economic relief for residents who preserve vintage vehicles, while simultaneously promoting the preservation of local automotive heritage. The relief will be applied automatically once the agreement becomes final.

Public exhibition and appeals process

In accordance with Article 17.1 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, the provisional agreement, along with the new wording of the affected ordinance rules, will be displayed to the public on the city council’s notice board for a period of thirty business days.

During this period, interested parties may:

• Examine the complete file.
• Submit any claims and suggestions they deem appropriate.

Once the period has elapsed without any claims being filed, the provisionally approved agreement will be understood as final, without the need for a new resolution.

Impact for residents

With this ordinance, Villaescusa de Roa joins the municipalities committed to easing the tax pressure on very old vehicles, a group that often bears quotas disproportionate to the actual value of the car. The total relief makes the municipality a favorable destination for classic vehicle enthusiasts, who will be able to maintain their historic cars without municipal tax costs.
