Vilanova de Arousa sobe as taxas de auga e sumidoiros en 2027

The Vilanova de Arousa City Council has initially approved the partial modification of the tax ordinances regulating the water supply tax and the wastewater drainage and purification tax. The agreement was adopted by the Plenary of the Corporation in the session of September 28, 2026, and the new tariffs will enter into force on January 1, 2027. The official announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) no. 200, of October 16, 2026, with the reference 2026072930.

Two modified tax ordinances

The file affects two municipal tax regulations in force for decades, which the local government is reviewing jointly:

  • The ordinance regulating the tax for distribution services of water, gas, electricity, and other public supplies, including connection rights for lines, placement and use of meters and analogous installations when these services are provided by local entities, approved by the Plenary on October 28, 1998.
  • The ordinance regulating the tax for wastewater drainage and purification, approved by the Plenary on October 26, 2004.

In both cases, the announcement sets the entry into force of the revised tariffs starting January 1, 2027. The published text does not detail the specific amounts of the revision, which are collected in the articles of the ordinances once the processing is completed.

Thirty days for claims

In accordance with article 17.1 and 2 of the Recast Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, the Council opens a period of public information and hearing for interested parties for a period of thirty days. The count begins from the publication of the announcement in the BOPPO.

During this period, residents and other interested parties may submit claims and suggestions against the proposed tariffs. The complete file remains available to the public at the General Secretariat of the council, where all documentation of the procedure can be consulted.

The announcement will also be displayed on the notice board of the Town Hall and published in one of the most widely circulated newspapers in the province, as stated in the official text itself.

Signature and verification of the document

The announcement was signed in Vilanova de Arousa on October 2, 2026, by the mayor, Gonzalo Durán Hermida. The document incorporates the secure verification code E9PI1IB96GDMYQA8, which allows its integrity to be verified on the electronic headquarters of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra.

The processing follows the usual procedure for tax ordinances: initial approval by the Plenary, public exhibition for the legal period and, in the event that no claims are presented, automatic elevation to definitive.

Impact on the water bill

The modification directly affects the bill paid by all residents of Vilanova de Arousa for water supply and sanitation services, two of the basic utilities of any home. As this is an initial approval, the text may still vary if allegations are presented within the open period, meaning interested parties have the opportunity to influence the rates before they come into effect.
