Viladecans opens grants for elite athletes residing in the municipality

The Viladecans City Council has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona (BOPB) on September 7, 2026, the summary of the call for grants, under a competitive bidding process, addressed to individual athletes residing in the municipality who are considered elite at the municipal level. The call, approved by Mayoral Decree no. 2026/4875 of August 14, 2026, and partially modified by Decree 2026/5020 of August 28, 2026, is published with the official reference CVE 202610137753 and is registered in the National Grants Database (BDNS) with the identifier 927446.
The call is framed within the Specific regulatory bases for the granting of subsidies to elite athletes of Viladecans, approved by agreement no. 15 of the Municipal Plenary in the ordinary session of June 25, 2026 (exp. 715/2026/C00157) and definitively approved on August 10, 2026. The applicable legal regime is that of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, and its Regulation, approved by Royal Decree 887/2006, of July 21.
Financial allocation and amount of aid
The budget credit authorized for this line of grants (Line 20/30000 – Grant for elite athletes) is 7,500.00 euros, charged to item 30120/34100/48200 and operation “A” no. 12026000069637. The item may be expanded by the manager during the granting process.
- Initial base amount: 4,500.00 euros, with an individual maximum of 80.00 euros per application.
- Complementary amount for sporting excellence: 3,000.00 euros, increased by the unused remainder of the base amount.
- The amount of each grant is determined proportionally to the score obtained in the evaluation and is not linked to expenses incurred, given its nature as recognition for sporting merits.
Requirements and sporting merits
To be beneficiaries, applicants must prove, during the period from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, at least one of the following merits:
- Ranking among the top five places in a Catalan Championship.
- Ranking among the top ten places in a Spanish Championship.
- Participation in a European Championship or similar official international competitions.
- Participation in a World Championship, the Olympic Games, or the Paralympic Games.
Official competitions in base, youth, junior, U-23, absolute, or senior categories are considered valid; master, veteran, or equivalent categories are not taken into account. Applications shall be submitted electronically to the City Council’s electronic office, with the documentation provided for in the regulatory bases.
Evaluation and equity criteria
The assessment is carried out under a competitive bidding process with objective and cumulative criteria, with a maximum score of 160 points:
- Being a female athlete (special attention group): up to 10 points.
- Being an athlete with a disability (special attention group): up to 10 points.
- Ranking in the Catalonia Championship: up to 16 points.
- Ranking in the Spanish Championship: up to 32 points.
- Ranking in the European Championship or similar international competitions: up to 36 points.
- Ranking in the World Championship or the Olympic/Paralympic Games: up to 50 points.
The call for applications incorporates a perspective of equity and inclusion, specifically recognizing groups that may face greater structural difficulties in accessing high-level sports, such as female athletes and people with disabilities. The deadline for submitting applications ends on September 30, 2026, and the act, signed by the Deputy Mayor for Sports, Ricard Calle Martínez, may be appealed through contentious-administrative proceedings before the Court of First Instance of Barcelona.
This call represents direct support for local sporting talent and a commitment to equal opportunities in access to elite sports, with financial recognition that rewards merits achieved in official competitions at all levels.
