Vigo appoints five firefighters and one firefighter-driver from the SPEIS as permanent staff

The Local Government Board of the Vigo City Council has agreed to the appointment as career civil servants of five firefighters and one firefighter-driver for the Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue Service (SPEIS). The agreement was adopted in the session of September 11, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) number 179, dated September 21, 2026, on page 49785, with the official reference CVE-DOG ne0svw43-pt00-uz60-r1u8-mgkioqomdz49.

The appointments correspond to the public employment offer (OEP) for the years 2020-2021-2022, via the free quota, and cover five of the twenty-three firefighter positions and one of the seven firefighter-driver positions announced. All of them are framed within the C2 qualification group, Special Administration scale, special services sub-scale, fire extinction class.

According to the announcement, the selected individuals have proven the requirements demanded in the call’s bases, the applicable regulations, and the internal criteria of the SPEIS regarding integration into the workplace. The resolution is made public in accordance with the provisions of the selection process bases and current public service legislation.

The appointed persons

The agreement details the identity of the six people who attain the status of career civil servants, with their identity documents partially protected in the official publication:

• Rodríguez Rial, B. (*1830).
• Fernández Costas, D. (*9612).
• Carballo Camiño, A. (*0496).
• Maquieira Fernández, A. (*0828).
• Couso Molares, A. (*5059).
• Millán García, E. (*8890).

Deadline for taking office

The interested parties must take office within one month from the publication of their appointment in the Official Gazette of Galicia. In the event of failure to do so, they will be declared in a ceased situation and, consequently, will forfeit their right.

The period begins to count, therefore, from the edition of September 21, 2026, in which the full announcement with the conditions of the appointment is included.

Resolving body and signatures

The announcement is signed by the mayor by delegation, through two councilwomen:

• María Olga Alonso Suárez, delegated councilwoman for Linguistic Normalization, Education, Human Resources and Training, by delegation of the Mayoral Resolution of 28.6.2024.
• Patricia Rodríguez Calviño, councilwoman for the Government Area of Security, Contracting, Festivals and Municipal Management, by delegation of the Mayoral Resolution of 25.9.2025 and the Agreement of the Local Government Board of 7.11.2025.

The document is dated Vigo, September 14, 2026, and is included in section VI, Announcements, heading B) Local Administration, of the regional bulletin.

The incorporation of these six personnel reinforces the staff of the city’s fire station and closes part of the selection process carried over from the 2020-2022 job offer, one of the most voluminous of the term. For the candidates who passed the process, the announcement starts the one-month countdown to take office; for the general public, it means the entry into service of new firefighting and rescue personnel.
