Vigo calls for head of Roads and Works through specific competition

The Local Government Board of the Vigo City Council, in its ordinary session on August 28, 2026, approved the regulatory bases and called for the procedure for the definitive provision of the vacant position of Head of the Roads, Works, and Infrastructure Service, through a specific competition system. The call, with the full text of the bases, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) no. 168, of Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

The position, key to the management of municipal infrastructures, is economically funded in the City Council’s budgets and reserved for career civil servant personnel of subgroup A1. The announcement with the extract of the call will also be published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) and in the Official State Gazette (BOE), with the date of the latter announcement serving as the basis for calculating the deadline for submitting applications.

Requirements and Applications

To participate, applicants must have a minimum seniority of 3 years as career civil servant personnel of the Vigo City Council. Applications shall be submitted by electronic means through the general electronic registry of the City Council within a period of 15 business days counting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the BOE.

The documentation that must accompany the application includes:

• Authentic copy of the official academic qualification
• Certification accrediting the status of career civil servant
• Sworn declaration of functional capacity
• Documentation accrediting the alleged merits
• Report required for the second phase

Selection Process

The specific competition consists of two phases. In the first, general and specific merits will be valued, with a maximum score of 40 points and a minimum of 20 points to access the second phase. In the second phase, the preparation and defense of a report will be evaluated, with a maximum of 10 points, which will be presented before the evaluation commission for 30 minutes.

A minimum total score of 25 points is established for the awarding of the position. The evaluation commission, predominantly technical in nature and with a parity criterion, will be composed of a president, three members, and a secretary. The deadline for the resolution of the competition will be three months from the day following the end of the application submission period.

The agreement was signed by delegation of the Mayor’s Office by the delegated councilwoman for Linguistic Normalization, Education, Human Resources and Training, María Olga Alonso Suárez, and by the councilwoman for the Government Area of Security, Contracting, Festivals and Municipal Management, Patricia Rodríguez Calviño.

The call represents an opportunity for the consolidation of an essential management position in the management of municipal roads and works in Vigo, in a process that prioritizes the professional experience and specific training of the candidates. The appointment of the selected person will be published in the BOP of Pontevedra, on the notice board, and on the electronic headquarters of the City Council.
