The Local Government Board of the City Council of Vigo, in its ordinary session on August 28, 2026, approved the regulatory bases for subsidies destined for the financing of sociocultural activities carried out by companies and entrepreneurs in the “Mar de Vigo” Auditorium-Conference Center. The call, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) number 169 on September 3, 2026, has a total credit of 500,000 euros and is processed under a competitive bidding regime (file 6754/330).

The grants will finance activities executed between November 1, 2025, and October 31, 2026, both inclusive, and are included in the Strategic Subsidy Plan of the City Council of Vigo for the 2024-2026 period. The call is based on Galicia’s Subsidy Law 9/2007, the General Subsidy Law 38/2003, and Commission Regulation (EU) 651/2014.

Object and beneficiaries

The objective is to support and promote the city’s sociocultural offer in a unique municipal space, favoring the diversity of programming, access to plural artistic discourses, and the creation of new audiences. Companies, legal persons, or legally constituted commercial societies acting as direct promoters of the activities may apply for the grants.

  • Natural persons and non-profit entities are excluded.
  • Applicants must be up to date with tax obligations to the AEAT, ATRIGA, the City Council of Vigo, and Social Security.
  • The subsidy may not exceed 50% of the total cost of the activity.
  • The maximum amount per applicant is 200,000 euros, with a proportional reduction if this is exceeded.

Amount, concepts, and criteria

The credit of 500,000 euros will be allocated to budget application 3331.470.00.02 of the current municipal budget. Eligible expenses include artist fees and honorariums, travel and technical production costs, copyrights, contracting of technical services, and promotion and dissemination expenses.

The evaluation will be carried out according to four criteria:

  • Trajectory of the entity: up to 25 points.
  • Volume of expenses of the activity: up to 40 points.
  • Ticket price: up to 20 points.

Deadline and processing

Applications shall be submitted exclusively by electronic means through the electronic office of the City Council of Vigo, within a period of 20 business days counting from the day following the publication of the summary of the call in the BOPPO. The supporting documentation must be provided before November 10, 2026.

The instruction corresponds to the Culture Service, and the resolution shall be the responsibility of the Local Government Board, with a maximum period of nine months. The Evaluation Commission will be chaired by the councillor-delegate for Culture, Gorka Gómez Díaz, with the Secretariat of Municipal Administration acting as a non-voting member. The bases are signed by the head of the Cultural Management and Promotion Service, Jesús López Moure, and the councillor for the Area of Historical Heritage, Culture and Equality, María del Carmen Silva Rego.

The call represents a significant boost for Vigo’s cultural programming, by channeling half a million euros toward the companies that energize the “Mar de Vigo” Auditorium-Conference Center, a municipally-owned space conceived as an artistic and cultural reference for the city. The commitment to competitive bidding and transparency seeks to guarantee a plural, accessible, and high-quality cultural offer for the citizenry.
