Verín delegates the celebration of a civil marriage to the deputy mayor

The Verín City Council has delegated to the deputy mayor Diego Lourenzo Moura the powers to authorize and celebrate a civil marriage in the town hall. The decision, adopted by mayor Gerardo Seoane Fidalgo, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense on September 3, 2026, within section IV of Local Entities, under file 2608/2026.

The resolution responds to the express will of the interested parties, who requested that the deputy mayor be the one to officiate the ceremony. The council already had the Favorable Order from the Court of Verín for the wedding to be held in the municipal premises.

The delegation of powers

The delegation is based on articles 51 and 57 of the Civil Code, which grant the mayor the power to authorize and celebrate civil marriages. With this resolution, mayor Gerardo Seoane Fidalgo temporarily transfers those powers to deputy mayor Diego Lourenzo Moura for this specific act.

The ceremony will take place on August 29, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., in the Session Hall of the Verín City Council Town Hall. The resolution was signed in Verín on August 21, 2026, and is certified by the municipal secretary, acting in an interim capacity.
