Velike Lašče sets kindergarten fees and new absence reservation rules
Por FactBox Admin

The Municipal Council of Velike Lašče has set the monthly prices for the Sončni žarek kindergarten at the Primož Trubar Primary School Velike Lašče, fixing the first age group at 841,37 EUR and the second age group at 673,82 EUR per month. The decision, adopted at the council’s 25th regular session on 18 June 2026, was published in the Uradni list Republike Slovenije (issue 1394/2026, dated 3 September 2026) under reference 0301-0017/2026-1 and applies from 1 September 2026.
Legal basis and scope
The decision is grounded in Articles 28, 28.a, 28.b and 31 of the Kindergarten Act (Uradni list RS, no. 100/05 – consolidated text, with later amendments) and Article 17 of the Statute of the Municipality of Velike Lašče (Uradni list RS, no. 30/25). It replaces the previous decision on kindergarten programme prices (Uradni list RS, no. 47/25), which ceases to have effect upon the entry into force of the new act.
The prices cover the daily programmes of the kindergarten, whose founder is the Municipality of Velike Lašče. The food costs included in the programme prices amount to 2,80 EUR per day; for periods when a child is absent and does not attend the kindergarten, the programme price is reduced by the cost of unconsumed food, in proportion to the amount paid for the programme.
Reservation rules for absences
The decision introduces detailed rules on reservations for children who are absent from the kindergarten. The Municipality of Velike Lašče co-finances reservations for children who, together with at least one parent, have permanent residence in the municipality and attend a kindergarten founded by the municipality.
- Holiday or medical absence reservations may be claimed for a total of at most 22 working days per year, usable in at most two parts at any time during the year, with a minimum absence of 10 working days.
- In exceptional circumstances beyond the parents’ control (longer hospitalisation, serious illness or injury of the child), an extraordinary reservation of 20 consecutive working days per year may be used.
- Parents pay the reservation at 50% of the value of the payment set by the decision determining the kindergarten fee, with the cost of unconsumed food already deducted.
- Holiday reservations must be announced in writing to the kindergarten at the latest two weeks before the first day of absence; medical reservations require a prescribed form and a medical certificate submitted before, during or at the latest within 5 days after the end of the absence.
- Extraordinary reservations require a written request, assessed individually by the Commission for the Admission of Children to the Kindergarten, accompanied by appropriate medical evidence.
Conditions and entry into force
A reservation is taken into account only for the child whose parents’ payment is not financed from the state budget. Parents with permanent residence in other municipalities whose children attend the Sončni žarek kindergarten may claim a reservation only if the municipality obliged by regulations to cover the difference up to the full programme price agrees to it.
The decision was signed by the Mayor of the Municipality of Velike Lašče, Matjaž Hočevar, and enters into force the day after its publication in the Uradni list Republike Slovenije, while its provisions apply from 1 September 2026. Families with children in the municipality’s kindergarten should therefore plan their holiday and medical absences under the new reservation framework from the start of the new school year.
