Velamazán raises water rates with a 300-euro connection fee and 35 annually
Por FactBox Admin

The Plenary of the Velamazán City Council approved in an ordinary session on October 19, 2026, the modification of Article 4 of the Fiscal Ordinance Regulating the Fee for the Provision of Drinking Water Supply, which now sets a connection fee of 300 euros and a fixed annual fee of 35 euros. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Soria, number 123, dated October 26, 2026, on page 3760, with the official reference BOPSO-123-26102026, and opens a public exhibition period of thirty business days.
The new tariff schedule
The modification is limited to Article 4 of the ordinance, which is dedicated to tariffs, and is now drafted with two unique concepts:
- Connection fee: 300 euros.
- Fixed fee: 35 euros per year.
The text approved by the Plenary replaces the previous wording of the provision and establishes that these are “the tariffs to be charged for the provision of the water supply service” within the municipal district. Therefore, the ordinance affects all subscribers to the municipal drinking water service of Velamazán, both new connections and users already connected to the network.
Thirty business days to claim
The announcement is available for public viewing at the Secretariat of the Velamazán City Council for a period of thirty business days starting from its publication in the provincial gazette. During this period, interested parties who consider themselves affected may examine the file and submit any allegations or claims they deem appropriate.
If no claim is registered after this period, the plenary agreement will automatically become final. The announcement itself supports this procedure under Article 17.3 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the Recast Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, the regulation that governs the processing of modifications to fiscal ordinances and their public information periods.
Processing and signature
The agreement was adopted in an ordinary session of the Plenary, and the announcement is dated in Velamazán on October 20, 2026, one day after the session. It is signed by the mayor, José Carlos Muñoz Rodrigo, who is responsible for the publication of the agreement in the official gazette and its submission for public information.
The administrative sequence is the standard one for modifications of local government fiscal ordinances: initial approval by the Plenary, publication of the agreement, opening of the public exhibition process and, if applicable, elevation to final status if there are no claims. Any allegation submitted would require the City Council to resolve it before the new tariff schedule comes into effect.
Impact for subscribers
The revision of Article 4 has a direct effect on the water bills of all residents of Velamazán: a fixed fee of 35 euros per year will apply regardless of consumption, while the connection fee of 300 euros taxes new service connections. The publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Soria, number 123, marks the beginning of the thirty-business-day count; therefore, subscribers wishing to challenge the new rates must submit their filings to the Municipal Secretariat within that period.
