Valverde del Fresno announces aid for birth and adoption in 2026

Por FactBox Admin

The Valverde del Fresno City Council (Cáceres) has published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Cáceres the call for municipal aid for the birth, fostering or adoption of children during the year 2026. The regulatory bases, approved on 6 August 2026, provide for up to 500 euros per minor and a total credit of 4,000 euros, and the application period opens the day after the publication of the notice, that is, on 15 August 2026.

The initiative, signed by the mayor José Núñez Vázquez, aims to help families registered and residing in the town to cover the initial expenses derived from the birth, fostering or adoption of children born or adopted between 1 January and 31 December 2026, while also seeking to foster the local economy of the municipality. The call is processed under an open call regime and is compatible with other aid, income or resources granted by any administration or entity for the same purpose.

Beneficiaries and requirements

Eligible applicants include natural fathers and mothers, legal guardians or adoptive parents of minors born or adopted in 2026 with legally accredited residence in Valverde del Fresno, provided they meet the requirements of the bases, including:

  • Being Spanish or a foreigner with legal residence in Valverde del Fresno.
  • Having been registered in the municipality for at least the last twelve uninterrupted months from the date of birth and remaining registered at present.
  • The minor must be registered in the town at the time of application and the birth must be recorded in the Civil Registry of Valverde del Fresno.
  • The child must live with the aid applicant.
  • In the event of annulment, separation or divorce, the benefit shall correspond to the parent with custody; those who have been wholly or partially deprived of parental authority or whose guardianship has been assumed by a public institution are excluded.

Amount and eligible expenses

A maximum of one aid per child will be granted and, in the case of multiple births, as many aids as minors born. Budget item 2311 480.00 has a total amount of 4,000 euros, with a maximum of 500 euros per child. Eligible expenses are those products intended for the minor —food, accessories, clothing, health and hygiene, including pharmacy products for vaccines— purchased in establishments permanently located in Valverde del Fresno; in no case shall expenses considered to be services be eligible for aid.

The justification shall be made by invoice or accounting document of equivalent evidentiary value, and only purchases after the baby’s date of birth are accepted. The justification period is six months from notification of the grant, and the one-time payment will be made after submission of the supporting documents proving that the expenses have been incurred and paid.

Submission period and processing

The application submission period will remain open from the day after the publication of the rules in the provincial bulletin and on the municipal notice board until 31 December 2026, with the possibility of extension until 31 January 2027 for children born in late December 2026. Applications submitted in advance during the 2026 financial year that meet the requirements are also admitted under this call.

Applications, on the standard form, shall be addressed to the Mayor-President of the Valverde del Fresno City Council and must be accompanied by the national identity document (DNI) or residence document, family record book or birth certificate, adoption certificate where applicable, and certificate of bank account ownership. The General Secretariat will verify the requirements and submit the proposal to the Mayor’s Office, which shall issue a decision within a maximum period of three months; if that period elapses without notification, the application shall be deemed rejected, in accordance with Law 39/2015, of 1 October, and Law 38/2003, of 17 November, General Subsidies Law.

With a grant amount of up to 500 euros per child, this call allows families registered in Valverde del Fresno to cover the initial expenses of a child and, at the same time, strengthens the municipality’s commercial fabric by requiring the aid to be spent in the town’s own establishments. For residents who have or adopt a child during 2026, the subsidy represents direct support in the context of the fight against rural depopulation.
