Valverde del Fresno opens extraordinary social support aid for contingencies

The City Council of Valverde del Fresno has approved the regulatory bases for the call for Extraordinary Social Support Grants for Contingencies 2026, published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Cáceres of August 12, 2026 (No. 153, reference BOP-2026-3822). These are non-periodic, single-payment financial benefits aimed at covering basic expenses of individuals and families at risk of social exclusion. The application period is open from the day after the publication of the announcement and, in any case, until November 30, 2026.

The bases, approved on August 6 and signed on August 7 by the mayor, José Núñez Vázquez, develop for the municipality the regime of Decree 110/2021, of September 22, of the Regional Ministry of Health and Social Services, with the income limits and amounts updated by the Order of January 2, 2023. The call falls within the municipal economic collaboration program approved by the Governing Council of the Government of Extremadura on March 4, 2025, and has a maximum budget of €10,662.36 charged to the corresponding budget item.

What expenses are covered and what amounts are awarded

These grants are purpose-specific and a maximum of one per year and family unit will be awarded; for the same concept, a new grant may not be granted until two years have elapsed. The eligible expenses are:

• Housing: rent for the habitual residence and interest and amortization of mortgage loans, up to €2,600.
• Temporary accommodation due to eviction (non-payment, deterioration, floods, fires, or gender-based violence) and moving of furniture and belongings.
• Facilities, basic equipment, and essential necessities, up to €1,600.
• Primary needs (food, personal hygiene, footwear, and clothing), from €700 for one person to €1,800 for ten or more.
• Healthcare or social-healthcare assistance not covered by the public system, up to €1,500, with transportation at €0.25 per kilometer.
• Critical deficiencies of an exceptional nature, up to €2,010, and prior indebtedness with a maximum age of 12 months.

If the application accumulates several concepts, the maximum combined amount is €2,950. Payments of fines, debts with public administrations, and alimony or compensatory allowances are excluded.

Applicants must be of legal age (except for absolute orphans or emancipated minors), be registered and have resided in Valverde del Fresno for at least six months, and lack sufficient income or earnings: sufficient income is understood to exist when the net income of the family unit exceeds 130% of the monthly IPREM paid in fourteen installments (910 euros for one member), increased by 8% for each additional person. The limit is raised to 140% if any member has a disability equal to or greater than 65% or a recognized dependency, and the length-of-residence requirement is not required of returning emigrants, refugees, or persons with a pending asylum application. The contingency must be stated in the report of the Basic Social Care Social Services, and chronic situations must be referred to other social resources.

How and where to submit the application

The application, using the form from the call for applications and accompanied by the required documentation (DNI or NIE, census registration, IRPF tax return or sworn declaration of income, employment history, certificates from SEPE and INSS, among others), may be submitted at the City Council’s general registry, at its electronic registry, at Post Office branches, or at registry assistance offices. The aid applications will be resolved in chronological order of entry into the registry, within a maximum period of six months, and payment will be made directly to the entity issuing the invoice, except for those for primary needs, which are delivered to the beneficiary every two weeks.

With a credit of just over €10,600, the call strengthens the municipal protection network against unforeseen situations that compromise the subsistence of the most vulnerable households in this municipality in the province of Cáceres. The rules are posted on the City Council notice board and in the provincial bulletin, and any questions regarding application will be resolved by the Mayor’s Office.
