Valverde de Leganés opens the vehicle tax reform for public allegations
Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Valverde de Leganés has opened the public information process for the modification of the Fiscal Ordinance regulating the Mechanical Traction Vehicle Tax. The agreement was adopted by the entity’s Plenary in an ordinary session held on October 20, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 208, corresponding to Thursday, October 29, 2026, under Announcement 4296/2026. Interested parties have a period of thirty days to examine the file and submit any claims they deem appropriate.
The modification file was processed by the entity’s competent services, as stated in the announcement itself. The affected regulation is the fiscal ordinance regulating the Mechanical Traction Vehicle Tax, the municipal tax paid by owners of vehicles based within the municipal district, meaning that any change in its articles directly impacts the bill sent to the owners.
The processing complies with the provisions of Article 17.2 of the Recast Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5. This provision requires the provisional approval agreement to be submitted for public information before the modification is made final.
Provisional approval pending finalization
The plenary agreement is provisional in nature. According to the published text, if no claims have been submitted after the public exhibition period, the agreement will be considered definitively approved, without the need for a new pronouncement by the Plenary.
The announcement does not detail the specific content of the modification nor the amounts or categories affected; the complete file must be consulted at the municipal offices during the allegations period.
Thirty days to submit claims
The period for filing allegations is thirty days and is calculated from the day following the insertion of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz, that is, from October 30, 2026.
During this period, the file will be available for examination so that any allegations deemed pertinent may be formulated. The publication is issued under the signature of the mayor, Manuel Borrego Rodríguez.
Consultation at municipal offices and the electronic office
The file can be examined in two ways:
- In person, at the municipal offices of the City Council of Valverde de Leganés.
- Electronically, through the municipal electronic office, at the address valverdedeleganes.sedelectronica.es.
Second fiscal file from the same plenary
The ordinary session of October 20, 2026, addressed at least one other fiscal modification: that of the Ordinance regulating the fee for the occupation of public roads with goods, construction materials, rubble, fences, shores, struts, scaffolding, and other analogous installations.
This second file is published in the same issue of the bulletin as Announcement 4300/2026 and follows an identical procedure: provisional approval by the Plenary, a thirty-day public information period starting from the day following the insertion of the announcement, and automatic elevation to definitive status if there are no claims.
Impact for residents
The modification of the ordinance of the Mechanical Traction Vehicle Tax affects the amount of the bill to be paid by vehicle owners registered or with a vehicle based in Valverde de Leganés, therefore the open procedure is the only way for those affected to learn the scope of the change and challenge it before the regulation is finalized. Anyone who does not submit allegations within the deadline will lose the opportunity to discuss the content of the modification, which will be approved automatically.
