Por FactBox Admin

The Valls City Council has announced the scholarships for the 2026/27 academic year of the Robert Gerhard Municipal School of Music, with a budget of 9,500 euros, which can be expanded up to double that amount. The BOP of Tarragona published the summary of the call on November 6, 2026 (CVE 2026-10309), with a deadline of 15 business days to submit applications. The grants are awarded on a competitive basis and cover the tuition fees for regulated musical education.
The authority to approve the annual calls lies with the Governing Board of the Valls City Council, while the administration is the responsibility of the municipal Department of Education. The procedure is framed within Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, and Royal Decree 887/2006, and the general bases applying to it were published in full in the BOP of Tarragona on July 12, 2021 (CVE 2021-06224), with final approval in the same bulletin on September 1, 2021 (CVE 2021-07730) and in the DOGC no. 8497 of September 8, 2021.
The summary has also been transmitted to the National Subsidy Database (BDNS), where the full text can be consulted using identifier 939359, and it will be disseminated on the center’s notice board.
Requirements: enrollment, age, and family income
To apply for the scholarship, one must be enrolled in the school during the 2026/27 academic year and meet these conditions:
- Be between 4 and 20 years old.
- Have fully paid the fees for the program attended.
- Be registered as a resident in any municipality of the Alt Camp region.
- Not exceed the annual gross family income thresholds.
- Meet the general requirements of article 13.2 of Law 38/2003.
The economic thresholds range from 25,485.60 euros for single-member families to 67,100.60 euros for families of eight, with an additional 5,945 euros for each member from the eighth onwards. Exceeding these limits results in the automatic dismissal of the application, regardless of the score obtained in the remaining criteria. The scholarship is only granted for the enrollment of a single instrumental specialty.
Scoring and percentage of the fee
The scale combines social and economic criteria, with the following distribution:
- Accredited single-parent family: 1 point.
- Family unit consisting of a single person: 1 point.
- Dependent children: 1 point each up to the second, and 2 points from the third onwards.
- Recognized disability of the student: 4 points; of a first-degree relative: 2 points.
- Income per member of the family unit: between 1 and 10 points, depending on the bracket.
The score determines the percentage of the discount on the monthly fee: 80% for those who exceed 13 points, and 70%, 60%, 50%, 40%, 30%, and 20% in successive brackets down to 1 or 2 points. The final amount, however, is distributed proportionally to the available endowment, set at 9,500 euros charged to item 70600-32600-48000; if the calculated sum exceeds this figure, the scholarships are reduced linearly.
The initial credit can be expanded by a maximum of 9,500 euros more if there is an approved budget modification and the availability of credit is declared before the final resolution.
Deadlines, processing and payment
Applications are submitted through the Electronic Office of the Valls City Council or at the Citizen Service Office, one per student, within 15 business days following the publication in the BOP. If documentation is missing, there are 10 business days to correct it.
The Granting Commission, composed of the Councilor for Education, a municipal technical manager, and a legal advisor, will issue the mandatory report. The resolution will be notified on the edicts board of the Electronic Office and the maximum term to issue it is six months, with negative administrative silence. The payment of the scholarship, which is non-refundable, is distributed in monthly installments from January to June.
The scholarship is revoked if the student withdraws, provides false data, or accumulates more than three unjustified absences on different days. The extract is signed by the deputy secretary Jerónimo Rivas Gómez, dated Valls, October 30, 2026.
The call arrives with the course already underway and requires families from Alt Camp to prove income and family circumstances within a few weeks: with 9,500 euros distributed in monthly installments, the aid can cover between one-fifth and eight out of every ten euros of the tuition according to the score, a margin that can decide the continuity of musical studies in households with lower incomes.
