Por FactBox Admin

The Valls City Council has opened the 2026 call for rent payment grants, endowed with 15,000 euros and with aid that can reach 40% of the monthly income. The opening was approved by the Local Government Board on October 16, 2026, and the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona publishes it this Monday, October 26, with the reference CVE 2026-09835 and the code BDNS 936759.
The call is processed under a non-competitive regime and aims to alleviate housing expenses for individuals and families in unfavorable economic situations who have their habitual residence in the municipality of Valls. The aid covers a maximum of six consecutive monthly rent payments paid between January and September 2026, both inclusive, and is charged to the budget item 51502-15200-48000, which may be expanded if credit is available.
The regulatory framework consists of the General Grant Bases of the Valls City Council and its autonomous bodies, published in the BOP of Tarragona on July 12, 2021 (CVE 2021-06224), with final approval on September 1, 2021 (CVE 2021-07730) and dissemination in the DOGC no. 8497 of September 8, 2021. The call bears the reference number 20260000022S and the municipal announcement is signed by the deputy secretary Jerónimo Rivas Gómez.
Income up to 25,200 euros per year
Natural persons who hold a rental contract or assignment of a habitual residence in Valls may apply for this line, provided they are up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations and do not fall under the prohibitions of article 13 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, general grants.
The economic requirement is that the income of the cohabitation unit, weighted by coefficients, does not exceed 25,200 euros per year. The subsidizable monthly rent cannot exceed 700 euros, a limit that rises to 900 euros in the case of large families, single-parent families, or those with minors with disabilities; annexes such as parking spaces or storage rooms are not included in this amount.
The following are excluded from the call:
- Cohabitation units with a relative up to the second degree of the lessor or assignor.
- Persons who are owners or usufructuaries of another home in Spain, with provided exceptions.
- Persons with a taxable savings base in the IRPF (Personal Income Tax) exceeding 500 euros.
- Tenants of housing managed by the Housing Agency of Catalonia.
Between 20 and 200 euros per month per home
The grant has a maximum limit of 200 euros per month and a minimum of 20 euros per home. The percentage applied to the rent is 20%, 30%, or 40% depending on the calculated payment effort, so that households with a higher burden on their income receive a higher percentage.
The total allocation for the call is 15,000 euros. The maximum amount a single household can receive is, therefore, 1,200 euros if the six monthly payments with the highest monthly cap are utilized.
Ten business days to submit the application
Applications are formalized using the standardized form and can be submitted electronically via the municipal electronic office or in person at the Local Housing Office, at plaça Sant Jordi number 4 in Valls. The deadline is ten business days counting from the day after publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona, which places the closing at the beginning of November.
The municipal department competent in Housing matters acts as the instructing body, while the granting of the aid corresponds to the Local Governing Board. The maximum term to issue and notify the resolution is six months from the submission of the application, and notification is made via publication on the edicts board of the electronic office of the Valls City Council.
Impact on vulnerable households
This call is added to the line of aid for young people that the same council published in the BOP on October 23 (CVE 2026-09745, BDNS 936251), focused on the first three months of rent for people between 18 and 35 years old. Together, the two lines deploy municipal aid for the payment of housing rent in a context of pressure on rental prices in the city.
For families with tight incomes, the aid can represent up to 200 euros per month for half a year, a relevant amount in households where the rental income is close to the 700-euro limit. The requirement of six months of already paid receipts between January and September 2026 means that the subsidy functions, in effect, as compensation for expenses already advanced by the household.
