Valdecilla confirma a Remedios Quirce como jefa de Medicina Nuclear

The Cantabrian Health Service has confirmed M. Remedios Quirce Pisano as Head of the Nuclear Medicine Service of the Specialized Care Management of Area I: Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital, for a new four-year period. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 211, dated November 3, 2026, within section 2.1 of appointments, with the official reference CVE-2026-8523. The resolution was signed in Santander on October 28, 2026.

The confirmation comes following the favorable continuity report issued by the managing director of the Specialized Care Management of Area I, the body upon which the reference hospital of the Cantabrian public health system depends. The position had been called via Order SAN/42/2020, as stated in the heading of the announcement, which occupies page 55998 of the provincial gazette.

A new four-year mandate since October 2025

The first section of the resolution agrees to confirm Dr. Quirce Pisano in the position identified with code 2023P73000001ZW, for a new period of four years. This term is calculated “starting from October 26, 2025,” meaning the new mandate is already underway and the official publication concludes the evaluation procedure.

Continuity is therefore resolved without a public call for a new competition, but rather through the confirmation of the head of the service within the framework of the evaluation procedure for management positions provided for in Cantabrian health regulations.

The resolution is based on the favorable continuity report and a dual regulatory support:

  • Articles 5.2.f) and 52 of Cantabria Law 9/2010, of December 23, on Statutory Personnel of Health Institutions of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria.
  • Article 15, paragraph four, of Cantabria Law 03/2023, of December 26, on Fiscal and Administrative Measures, which modified article 52.2 of the previous law.

The second section specifies that the extension is governed by the Third Transitional Provision of Cantabria Law 03/2023, which requires the provision of the position to be called again in accordance with article 52.3 of Cantabria Law 9/2010 once the extension derived from evaluation requests pending at the entry into force of that law has ended.

Signature by delegation and appeal process

The announcement is signed by the managing director of the Cantabrian Health Service, Luis Miguel Carretero Alcántara, acting by delegation of powers from the Minister of Health in accordance with the Resolution of December 9, 2024. The resolution also serves as notification to the interested parties, pursuant to Article 45.1 and concordant provisions of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

Against the decision, which exhausts administrative remedies, the interested parties have the following options:

  • Contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Santander, within two months from the day following its notification.
  • Appeal for reversal, on an optional basis, before the same body that issued the resolution, within one month from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of Cantabria.

The news affects a central service of the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital, a reference center for Cantabria and for much of the Cantabrian coast in diagnostic imaging techniques and radioactive therapies. The confirmation of the leadership provides stability to the Nuclear Medicine area for the next four years and closes a file whose evaluation had been pending since the previous term, as the new period has been computed from October 2025.
