The Provincial Council of Segovia has resolved the call for the XXXVI “Jaime Gil de Biedma” Poetry Prize, proclaiming Víctor Herrero de Miguel as the winner for his work “Los planos de un lugar”, awarded €12,000. The ruling is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Segovia number 105, dated September 2, 2026, by means of the Presidency Decree no. 2026-6095, dated August 21, 2026.

The resolution, signed by the Deputy Secretary Laura Álvarez García on August 27, 2026, concludes a process that began with the approval of the rules by the Governing Board on December 9, 2025, announced in the BOP Segovia 156, dated December 29, 2025. A total of 1,181 applicants applied in a timely and proper manner.

Two categories and a jury of 16 finalists

The call provided for two prizes under the same name: the Jaime Gil de Biedma Prize, with an endowment of €12,000, and the Young Poets Prize, in its second edition, with €5,000. The submitted poetry collections were examined by the Pre-jury, appointed by Presidency Decree 2026-1902, dated March 5, 2026, which met in Segovia on May 25 and selected 16 poetry collections for final evaluation.

The Jury, also appointed by the Presidency in the aforementioned Decree 2026-1902, met on June 9, 2026, and agreed to propose the granting of the awards. In a public act, the sealed envelopes were opened, revealing the authorship of the winning works.

The winners

  • Víctor Herrero de Miguel, winner of the XXXVI “Jaime Gil de Biedma” Poetry Prize for “Los planos de un lugar”, with €12,000.
  • María Martín Hernández, winner of the Young Poets Prize for “Bajo la piel, la sombra”, with €5,000.

The payment of the amounts will be made via bank account, charged to item 0426 3340 489.06, as established by the resolution, which was issued based on proposal PR/2026/6148, dated August 18, 2026, and favorably audited on August 20, 2026.

Appeals and effects

Against the resolution, which ends the administrative route, interested parties may file, alternatively, an optional appeal for reversal within one month before the same body that issued the act, or a contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Segovia within two months from notification. The resolution is made public for general knowledge.

The prize, named after the Segovian poet Jaime Gil de Biedma, consolidates its XXXVI edition as one of the reference literary events in the province, with participation exceeding a thousand applicants and a double track of recognition that distinguishes both established trajectories and the emerging voices of young poets.
