Urduliz City Council has called for swimming pool grants for the 2026 event

Urduliz City Council has issued a call for grants for the use of public swimming pools in other municipalities for the 2026 event. The call was approved by the Mayor’s Resolution of September 14, 2026, via mayoral decree 0796/2026, and was published in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia, issue 182, on September 23, 2026, in section II. The official reference for the call is BOB-2026a182-(II-4876), and it has the identifier 929565 in the State Database of Grants, where the full text of the call can be consulted.

Purpose and budget of the call

The purpose of the grant is to enable residents registered in Urduliz to use municipal swimming pools in other municipalities, which also includes the swimming lessons (for both children and adults) and aquatic activities offered therein.

The call has a budget of 30,000 euros, charged to item 4810000-3421 of the Council’s 2026 budgets, and is included in the Council’s Strategic Plan for Grants (2025-2027). The grants will be awarded under a competitive bidding process.

Eligibility and conditions

• Must be registered in Urduliz, at least since January 1, 2026.
• Tax and Social Security obligations must be up to date, as well as tax obligations to the City Council.
• The regulatory bases of the call were published in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia, issue 184, on September 26, 2025.

Amounts according to subscription and activity

The Council will pay a fixed amount depending on the type of subscription, swimming lesson, or aquatic activity:

• Individual subscription, adult: 8 euros per month and 96 euros per year.
• Individual subscription, minor: 4 euros per month and 48 euros per year.
• Individual subscription, retiree or pensioner: 4 euros per month and 48 euros per year.
• Family subscription: 12 euros per month and 144 euros per year.
• Swimming lessons (children and adults): 5 euros per month and 60 euros per year.
• Aquatic activities: 8 euros per month and 96 euros per year.
• Adapted swimming lessons or activities for people with disabilities: 20 euros per month and 200 euros per year.

If the number of applications exceeds the budget, a pro-rata distribution will be applied, and priority will be given to applications from people with disabilities. The grant is compatible with other grants, provided that the total sum does not exceed the cost of the activity.

Special regime for people with disabilities

The call includes a specific regime for people with disabilities. In this case, swimming pools of any ownership may be used, including private ones, provided that the need for use and the suitability of the facilities are justified.

These persons must have a recognized disability degree of 33% or more, and additionally, a level of dependency verified by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.

How and when to submit applications

Applications may be submitted at the Municipal Registry, at 1 Elortza Plaza, Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 13:30, or through the electronic procedures on the Municipal website (www.urduliz.eus).

The period will begin the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia and will end on December 11, 2026, inclusive. If the documentation is incomplete, interested parties will have 10 business days to correct the errors.

Resolution and payment

The instructing unit is the Secretariat, and the competent body for resolution is the Mayor’s Office. The maximum period for notifying the resolution is six months after the application period has ended; if no notification is received after this period, the application will be considered rejected by administrative silence.

After the resolution is issued and notified, the approved amounts will be paid within one month. The resolution exhausts the administrative route, and an appeal for reconsideration may be filed before the Mayor’s Office, or directly a contentious-administrative appeal.

To carry out the evaluation work, a collegiate body for grants will be formed:

• President: Mirian Balza Montero.
• Members: Nagore Monte Bilbao and Sonia Sánchez Rincón.
• Secretary: Ane Herrera Fuentes.

The signatory of the call is Mayor Itziar Iratzagorria Iturriaga.

This call provides the residents of Urduliz the opportunity to use swimming services outside the municipality and, specifically in the case of people with disabilities, expands the limits to facilities of any ownership and to higher amounts. The 30,000 euro budget and the December 11 deadlines mark the limit of the 2026 call, and the application period begins the day following its publication.
