University of Vigo: three new professors of Labour Law
Por FactBox Admin

The University of Vigo has appointed three new university professors in the area of Labour and Social Security Law, according to the resolution signed on October 15, 2026, by the rector, María Carmen García Mateo, and published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) number 206 this Wednesday, October 28. The appointments respond to the internal promotion competition identified as CU2502 and are finalized once the proposed individuals presented the documentation required by the 8th basis of the call. The announcement occupies section IV, Oppositions and Competitions, on pages 54046 and 54047, with the official reference CVE-DOG: ylgcdbd1-yzx0-5mx4-nuk4-krg8f4hb3hr2.
The framework: article 50 of the university law
The resolution supports the competence of the rectorate in article 50 of the Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, of the university system, published in the Official State Gazette on March 23, and in the remaining concordant provisions. The procedure began with the call approved by the Resolution of the University of Vigo of April 15, 2026, published in the Official State Gazette on April 25, which was subsequently modified by the Resolution of the Rectorate of May 6, 2026.
The proposals were raised in the commissions appointed to judge the internal promotion competition. This is, therefore, a route reserved for teaching and research staff who are already career civil servants, and not an open competition for free access.
Three chairs in the area of Labour Law
The three positions correspond to the body of university professor, in the knowledge area A0140 Labour and Social Security Law and the Department D00X13 Special Public Law:
- Francisca Fernández Prol, code CU2502-X13-140-CU-TC-01, assigned to center 103, Faculty of Law.
- Emma Rodríguez Rodríguez, code CU2502-X13-140-CU-TC-02, assigned to center 308, Faculty of Legal Sciences and Labour.
- Marta Fernández Prieto, code CU2502-X13-140-CU-TC-03, assigned to center 103, Faculty of Law.
The annex of the resolution identifies each position by the code CU2502-X13-140-CU-TC, the body, the knowledge area, the department, the workplace, and the DNI, which appears partially hidden for data protection.
Twenty business days to take office
The appointments will take full effect from the moment the interested parties take office. This procedure must be formalized within a maximum period of 20 business days counting from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official State Gazette; if the last day of the period were a non-working day at the University of Vigo, it shall be understood as extended until the first following business day.
Appeals against a resolution that exhausts the administrative route
The resolution ends the administrative route. Against it, the following may be filed:
- Appeal before the contentious-administrative jurisdiction within a period of two months, in accordance with Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating the aforementioned jurisdiction.
- Optional appeal for reversal before the rector within a period of one month, according to Law 39/2015, of October 1, on common administrative procedure.
Four resolutions and 24 positions since September
This announcement is the fourth installment of the CU2502 process published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (Diario Oficial de Galicia) in the last month and a half. The Resolution of September 2, 2026, disseminated in DOG number 175 on September 15, resolved 18 appointments in areas such as Edaphology, Genetics, External Geodynamics, Translation and Interpretation, Chemical Engineering, Mining Exploitation, Telematics, Applied Economics, or Audiovisual Communication. The Resolution of September 11, in DOG number 181 on September 23, added one position in Chemical Engineering, and the Resolution of October 9, in DOG number 200 on October 21, added two more in Galician and Portuguese Philology and Drawing. Together, the four resolutions cover 24 positions.
In the same DOG number 206, another rectoral resolution dated October 15 is published, TU2503, which appoints a university associate professor in the area of Aerospace Engineering, Guillermo David Rey González, assigned to the School of Aeronautical and Space Engineering.
The relevance of the news for teaching and research staff is twofold: it consolidates the teaching leadership of Labor Law at the University of Vigo, with one position on the Vigo campus and another at the Faculty of Legal Sciences and Labor, and it sets specific deadlines that interested parties must monitor in the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado), as it is that publication, and not the DOG, which activates the count of the 20 business days for taking possession and the appeal deadlines.
