University of Vigo: two new professors in Galician Philology and Drawing
Por FactBox Admin

The University of Vigo has appointed two new university professors through internal promotion: Aquilino Santiago Alonso Núñez, in the area of Galician and Portuguese Philology, and Ana María Soler Baena, in Drawing. The decision was made by the rector, María Carmen García Mateo, through the Resolution of October 9, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Galicia number 200 of October 21, 2026, in section IV (Oppositions and competitions), pages 53249 and 53250, with the official reference CVE-DOG: blv8fpc9-mbw8-7gf4-vlx8-qm20ekzrcc35.
The resolution is based on the proposals submitted by the judging committees of the internal promotion competition convened by the university’s Resolution of April 15, 2026 (published in the BOE on April 25) and modified by the rectoral Resolution of May 6, 2026 (BOE of May 11). The rectorate acts using the powers of article 50 of the Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, of the university system, and the appointments take place once the proposed individuals have submitted the documentation required in base 8 of the call.
Two appointments in Galician Philology and Drawing
The annex of the resolution details the destinations of the two new professors, identified by their position codes:
- Aquilino Santiago Alonso Núñez, code CU2502-H03-370-CU-TC-01, area A0370 Galician and Portuguese Philology, department D00H03 Galician and Latin Philology, assigned to the Faculty of Education and Sport Sciences.
- Ana María Soler Baena, code CU2502-H09-185-CU-TC-01, area A0185 Drawing, department D00H09 Drawing, assigned to the Faculty of Fine Arts.
In both cases, the body is that of university professor and the access modality is internal promotion, which implies that the positions are filled with teaching staff who already had a permanent link with the institution.
Third delivery of a process with twenty-one positions
This is the third resolution of the same competition CU2502 to appear in the Official Gazette of Galicia. The first, from September 2, 2026, was published in number 175 (September 15) and included eighteen appointments in areas such as Edaphology and Agricultural Chemistry, Genetics, External Geodynamics, Translation and Interpretation, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, Telematics Engineering, Applied Economics, or Audiovisual Communication. The second, from September 11, 2026, appeared in number 181 (September 23) with a single appointment, that of Diego Moldes Moreira in Chemical Engineering.
With today’s publication, the internal promotion process CU2502 adds twenty-one resolved professor positions at the University of Vigo. In the same section IV of issue number 200, the rectorate also published the Resolution of October 9 appointing two university associate professors (TU2503): Manuel Isorna Folgar, in Psychological Personality, Assessment and Treatment, and Silvia Pérez Freire, in Sociology.
Twenty business days to take office
The appointments will take full effect upon the interested parties taking office, which must be formalized within a maximum period of twenty (20) business days. The count begins the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official State Gazette (BOE), not in the DOG; if the last day of the period were a non-working day at the University of Vigo, it shall be understood as extended to the first following business day.
Against the resolution, which exhausts the administrative route, an appeal may be filed before the contentious-administrative jurisdiction within two months from the day following the publication in the BOE, in accordance with Law 29/1998, of July 13. Optionally, a request for reversal may be filed before the rector within one month, according to Law 39/2015, of October 1.
The relevance of the news for teaching and research staff is twofold: it consolidates the careers of two professors who reach the highest academic rank and, at the same time, sets a strict calendar of twenty business days that conditions the effective incorporation into the new positions. For the students and the affected departments, the appointments reinforce the areas of Galician Philology and Drawing with staff already familiar with the centers, which reduces the organizational impact of the change in category.
