University of Oviedo announces five collaboration grants on climate change and health

The University of Oviedo has opened the first call for collaboration grants linked to its Institutional Chairs for the 2026-2027 academic year, as published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) No. 159, of August 18, 2026. These are five grants — three for the Climate Change Chair and two for the Community Health and Health Promotion Chair — each endowed with 450 gross euros per month and with a validity period covering September 2026 to July 2027.

The call was approved by the Vice-Rector for Transfer and Business Relations through a Resolution of August 13, 2026, processed under the urgent procedure, with identifier BDNS 924868 and reference code 2026-06895. The regulatory bases comply with the Collaboration Grants Regulations approved by Agreement of May 28, 2009, of the Governing Council of the University of Oviedo and with the bases for institutional and corporate chair grants approved by Resolution of the Rector of May 4, 2023.

Five positions, two research lines

The call divides the grants into two distinct lines. The first, dedicated to climate change, has three positions and a total allocation of 15,327.72 euros. The second, focused on health data analysis and management, offers two positions with a total allocation of 10,218.48 euros.

In both cases, the monthly amount of each grant is 450 gross euros, and recipients must participate in support and learning tasks linked to the work of the respective chairs, thus completing their theoretical-practical training under competitive bidding procedures.

Destinations and academic requirements

The three destinations of the Climate Change Chair are distributed among:

• Institute of Natural Resources and Territorial Planning 1, Mieres Campus
• Institute of Natural Resources and Territorial Planning 2, Mieres Campus
• Department of Organisms and Systems Biology

To apply, candidates must be enrolled in any bachelor’s or master’s degree at the University of Oviedo in the 2026-2027 academic year and have passed a minimum of 90 credits, except for those pursuing master’s studies.

The two positions of the Community Health and Health Promotion Chair have the following destinations:

• Ministry of Health, for students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Software Computer Engineering
• Department of Medicine, Area of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, for students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management or Double Degree in Business Administration and Management and Law

In this case, the minimum number of credits required is 120.

Deadlines and application procedure

Applications must be submitted electronically through the electronic headquarters of the University of Oviedo within 10 business days counted from the day following the publication of the extract in the BOPA, that is, from August 19 until 11:59 PM on the last business day of the deadline.

• Form for the Climate Change Chair available at the university’s electronic headquarters.
• Form for the Community Health Chair also available at the electronic headquarters.

The appointment of the scholarship recipients is scheduled for September 9, 2026, and the scholarships will extend until July 31, 2027.

This call represents a firm commitment by the University of Oviedo to two of the major strategic areas of contemporary knowledge: the fight against climate change and the promotion of public health. By offering paid practical training at leading institutes and departments, the scholarships will allow Asturian students to gain experience in sectors with growing demand for qualified professionals, while also strengthening the research capacity of the university’s institutional chairs.
