Por FactBox Admin

The University of Oviedo has opened a complementary call to fill, due to resignation, a predoctoral contract grant intended for the training of doctors. This is established in the extract of the Resolution of September 1, 2026, from the Vice-Rector for Research, published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) number 175, dated September 10, 2026, with code 2026-07354.
The vacant position corresponds to grant PREP2022-000355, associated with research project PID2022-139886NB-I00, assigned to the Department of Statistics, Operational Research, and Mathematics Education of the University of Oviedo. The person initially hired resigned from their contract effective August 31, 2026, and the candidates included in the reserve list also declined, which has prompted this new selection procedure.
Purpose of the Grant
The call is part of the State Training Subprogram, within the State Program to Develop, Attract and Retain Talent, of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023. The grant finances an employment contract in predoctoral modality so that the selected person can carry out a doctoral thesis linked to the project, and includes, where applicable:
- funding for stays at R&D centers;
- tuition fees for doctoral studies;
- a postdoctoral orientation period of up to twelve months after obtaining the doctoral degree, without exceeding the maximum duration of the grant.
The principal investigators of the project are Ms. Susana Montes Rodríguez and Ms. Susana Irene Díaz Rodríguez.
Applicant Requirements
Those holding a degree in licensure, engineering, architecture, a university graduate degree with at least 300 ECTS credits, or a university master’s degree that qualifies them for doctoral studies may apply. Additionally, they must be enrolled or admitted to a doctoral program at the University of Oviedo, or be in a position to be so at the date of the contract formalization.
The following are excluded:
- those who have started their predoctoral training with other grants from the State Plan or previous National Plans;
- those who hold a Doctoral degree;
- those who have previously enjoyed a predoctoral contract for more than twelve months.
Deadline and Submission of Applications
The submission period is ten business days, counted from the day following the publication of the call in the BOPA. Applications shall be registered exclusively through the University of Oviedo Intranet, attaching the standardized form and the required documentation, which includes the official academic certification, the curriculum vitae (maximum four pages), and the corresponding responsible declarations.
The call, identified in the National Grants Database with the number 927465, is published as an extract in accordance with Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Grants Law, and its full text can be consulted in said database.
This call represents a new opportunity for young researchers wishing to begin their predoctoral career at the University of Oviedo, in an area of statistics and operational research, following the vacancy generated by a resignation. The short period of ten business days requires interested parties to process their application swiftly through the university intranet.
