Two Slovenian municipalities set local elections for 15 November

Two Slovenian municipalities have formally launched their local-election cycle on the same day, both calling voters to the polls on Sunday 15 November 2026. The calls were published on 2 September 2026 in the Uradni list Republike Slovenije (the official gazette, distributed through the PISRS portal) as editions 1391/2026 and 1392/2026, and both take effect the day after publication.

The first call, issued by the mayor of Občina Dobrova – Polhov Gradec, Jure Dolinar, schedules regular elections to the councils of the local communities (sveti krajevnih skupnosti) of Črni Vrh, Dobrova, Polhov Gradec and Šentjošt nad Horjulom. The second, a decision by the mayor of Občina Lendava, Janez Magyar, calls regular elections to the council of the town community and the local-community councils across the municipality.

Legal basis and issuing bodies

Both acts rest on Article 111, first paragraph, of the Zakon o lokalnih volitvah (Local Elections Act, Uradni list RS 94/07 – consolidated text, 45/08, 83/12, 68/17, 93/20 – US decision, 10/24 and 10/26), which governs the calling of local elections. Each municipality adds its own statute as the second legal pillar:

• Dobrova – Polhov Gradec invokes Article 70, fifth paragraph, of its statute (Uradni list RS 155/22 – consolidated text, and 47/25).
• Lendava invokes Article 59, second paragraph, of its statute (Uradni list RS 32/17, 5/19, 37/19 and 56/25).

The Dobrova – Polhov Gradec call is numbered 041-0019/2026-1 and was signed in Dobrova on 1 September 2026; the Lendava decision is numbered 041-0003/2026 and was signed in Lendava on 15 July 2026.

Key dates and electoral machinery

Both documents fix the same procedural calendar, aligning the two municipalities on a single national voting day:

• Election day: Sunday, 15 November 2026.
• Start of deadlines: Monday, 7 September 2026 is counted as the day the election is called, from which the statutory deadlines for electoral procedures begin to run.
• Conduct of the vote: the Občinska volilna komisija (municipal electoral commission) of each municipality is responsible for running the elections.

The Lendava decision covers the council of the town community (svet mestne skupnosti) as well as the local-community councils, while the Dobrova – Polhov Gradec call covers the four named local-community councils. Both acts enter into force the day after their publication in the Uradni list RS.
